My daughter has been there now for two years, after moving from another Evanston studio. We have found all the teachers to be wonderful! Very skilled and supportive and able to move each dancer along as individuals instead of doing just one thing for the class as a whole. The classes often are smaller than other studios which allows for more individual attention. The owner Pamela sets the tone of the studio as friendly, welcoming and kind. She knows each girl and their family, and greets EVERYONE. This attitude pervades not only the classes and the teachers, but also through all the dancers. So even though my daughter came into the studio as a 5th grader knowing no one (and not going to school with any of the girls), it has been a warm welcoming place. Dancers of all levels and ages interact with each and there isn't any snobbery between girls who are in company and those who are not. And even though they have very high level dancers/performers, there is still a place for everyone here----and purely recreational dancers are valued (which i have found to be an unusual trait in a dance studio). Months ago one of my Pilates instructor was raving about her adult tap class at SNAP and a fellow tap lover and I decided to check it out. They have 2 classes during the week - Fridays at 1230pm and Tuesdays at 715pm. Both aren't ideal with my work and carpool schedule, but I was able to make it to the class twice. We had 2 different instructors and both were great. There were a handful of other adults in the class who were clearly regulars, but very welcoming to use newbies. We warmed up and learned a routine (even broke out the jazz hands). While I can't quite move my feet like i used to, I did my best to keep up. To be honest the hard part was remembering all the steps. My memory isn't quite what it used to be! They do always do the same routine 2 weeks in a row so if you can swing 2 weeks in a row you should have no issues nailing a routine. Drop in classes are only $18 possibly making this the most affordable workout in the north shore. And based on my Apple health app I certainly got my steps in that day. I keep meaning to go back and even bought brand new tap shoes. The scheduling times are tough, especially during the school year, but I hope to make it back soon!

Jordan, Lauren Craig and Daphne are awesome!! They spent all winter helping me with my cycling skills. They have about 20 bike trainers inside plus 3 treadmills, spin bikes and rowers. They also offer strength and agility classes. You can store your bike there during the winter months so you don't have to schlep your bike in your car on the days you want to ride. They work with training peaks so every ride you do is recorded with heart rate, calories, speed and distance. It really helps me analyze where I need to improve. They also have separate fun free events throughout the year. Girls movie night (ride while watching the chick flick of your choice) beer and bikes (ride while chugging a beer and eating snacks). These are just fun ways to break up indoor cycling rides. The fees are reasonable for unlimited rides. Personalized attention, and a variety of options. Adult and youth programs. Indoor and weather permitting outdoor training too! This is great for triathletes of all levels; from the hesitant not sure I want to even try to the Kona qualifying elites. Yet NOT INTIMIDATING! I was amazed, as I have experienced this before. Runners, swimmers, even the every day "non athlete" person just trying to be fit can find something here. I first came to know Precision Multisport through a winter triathlon training program I was a part of that utilized the facility for their Computrainer studio. Craig and JP have helped me train for multiple events, as well as aid me with my return to sport training after a hiatus due to injury. The studio has moved since I started trading there, and expanded. They now offer more training options, class times, etc. BASE Fitness, TRX, other training classes, a wide range of Computrainer classes, and individual trainers...all highly recommended. I truly have learned so much during my training here. The coaches are attentive, knowledgeable, and put up with me! I am not high maintenance, just hard on myself. When I go to Precision Multisport...I do not feel like I have to BE the best, I just am encouraged to TRY my best; and everyone has off days, and are well supported here. The experience, and the way the coaches are with clients, is HUGE! I don't feel like I am a part of a cookie cutter workout. Thank you PM! They often have special events and other fun things. The transformation I have seen in him through his development in karate is nothing short of incredible. He's moved quickly through the program and has now moved into the intermediate level class. All of the instructors are phenomenal with the kids. The classes remain fun and age appropriate while still maintaining the discipline and respect that are the hallmarks of karate. My son participated in his very first "Dojo Duel" last spring and loved it. Dojo Duels are a fun introduction to competitive karate, allowing students to learn about competition in a very fun way. All the participants are recognized and receive medals, but they still recognize the top competitors in every age group as well. You can really go as far as you want with Fonseca. If you want to learn & compete at an international/Olympic level you can, as many Fonseca students compete on the world stage. John Fonseca himself is a legend in the sport and you will find him working in all the dojo locations and providing the students with his expertise. We love Sensei Dave at the Wilmette Dojo, he clearly cares about his students and really invests his time in their development. My son often arrives early or stays after class (by choice) because he is so eager to learn from him. He also has taken private lessons (again by his own request) so he can perform at his best in competition. He will be participating in another Dojo Duel this fall and then his first major competition, the Fonseca Cup. This place is the real deal, you will not regret sending your child.

We wish we had not listened to these people. Fonseca has been such a wonderful oasis for my kids. Let's begin with the heart and soul of the program: the amazing Sensei's. These men and women are such wonderful role models. They are always supportive, energized, and keep the class moving. They focus on the importance of character foremost rather than the outcome. My kids happily go at least 2 times a week - which is a miracle in itself. They are in a class where there is a wide range of ages and skill levels but no one ever feel intimidated or embarrassed. They get a very intense workout, while having fun, making new friends, gaining coordination and confidence. If you've ever thought of having your kiddos try Karate, don't wait! Sign them up.
