Shady campsites, nice swimming area, and relaxing. Not the best cellphone service so children are outside playing.

I went over to another bathhouse in another loop and was given a courtesy ticket of the way I park. I was parked in a parking space. Then they complained I could not park in another loop as over flow. It was explained that was not the case. The lack of communication between the staff and campers is terrible. Another thing that the staffs does is drive around our loop almost every 15 to 20 minutes. They patrolled our area so often that when we drove to another loop to use the restroom, that restrooms didn't have any toilet paper for that whole day. This was a lovely camp site, however, we will not be back due to the staff.

We camp here every season they are open. Sometimes more than once depending on what we have going…read moreon, but you need a reservation. It's very clean, the camping spots are spacious and they have a nice bicycle trail you can walk or ride your bike on. The "beach" for the campground is a short walk away or you can drive too it. Bathrooms there are locked and you have to use a port a potty so be prepared for that negative....but the beach area is clean. They so NOT have a playground so If you have little kids, bring your entertainment and toys with you for them. The water spots do get crowded and loud so if you want quiet get higher up on bear or fawn. They do have hiking trails but lots of spiders and I got eaten alive with mosquitos despite using "off" so make sure you are prepared!

I visited Oak Mountain State Park as part of the Mammoth March Hike, fully aware it was going to be…read morea major undertaking--but it still managed to shock me. The steep climbs up and down the mountain were incredibly challenging. At one point, I even slipped and slid down part of the trail but thankfully managed to do so gracefully without hurting myself. Being from Florida, I was definitely not accustomed to the elevation gain I was about to face. There were plenty of moments throughout the hike where I questioned why I signed up for this challenge, but pushing through and ultimately finishing made it all worth it. Having the bragging rights to say I conquered this terrain feels incredibly rewarding. That day, I didn't notice much floral life, and most of the critters seemed to be hiding--likely due to the large number of people participating in the hike. That said, I was still lucky enough to spot a rattlesnake and a black racer, which made the experience even more memorable. There were a few noteworthy areas worth stopping for, including an open area near a dam‑like structure and several peaceful river and creek spots along the route. While the park is absolutely massive and I know there was so much left unexplored, the 23 miles I trekked over 9 hours was more than enough for one day. If I find myself back in the area, I might just dare to return and explore some of the parts of the park I didn't get to see. Truly a beautiful park and an incredible asset for those who live nearby and get to enjoy it regularly.

Slept very well in our camper , Sunday, everything was the same until about noon, some group came In with very loud speakers and a karoke machine !! They have been howling all day !! We finally government up being outside with our grandson bc the loud music and bad singing got to us!! It was non stop, they finally stopped do about an hour and it is now 7:21 and they are still going strong!! I donor mind them singing but why do we all in the campgroud. Have to be submitted to this loud disgusting trying to sing group! Has security been around at all? Apparently not ! Have they checked for alcohol? Bc surely they have some bc you would almost have to have it to listen to this noise ! I really like the campgroud , however if this is allowed at anytime I think I will find another place to spend our money . I love music and singing but please do not disturb the whole campgroud , go to Bankhead forest and get as loud as you want ! Good trip and not so good ! Please don't reply with I'm a Karen, bc I'm really not! But ppl need to show respect for the neighbors !
