Nice bathrooms which for a busy Saturday was pretty well maintained and clean. Love the bench swings- sweet for 2 but big enough for a family of 4. Swings could be raised a little higher so feet don't drag. The piece de la resistance!!!!! The huge slide with the ropes to climb up on "designed for 5-12. 5 May be a bit young but it's nice to have a challenge for older kids (of all ages). There are so many plastic playscapes around the country that are "designed" for 5-12 whet a 9 year old won't be caught seen by their friends in it because it's a "baby thing". This was refreshing to see! Plus for so long our kids have been bubble wrapped and told to be careful we have decades of millions of wimps around. So nice to have a challenge! Good for development physically and mentally! Thank you TUSCALOOSA! Question... when and how do you access the parking lots. They were closed off which initially led me to believe it was a private park.

This is great spot to see some of the pre-Columbian history in mound high glory. You can actually climb on a mound and then inside the museum you can learn a great deal more of the history and what was found inside some of the mounds... hint dead things and treasure. This site also clearly provides evidence of the pre-Columbian trade network that existed between Central America, South America and North America. Tip: Quick and easy tour that is well worth a diversion for the experience to learn and actually see some history that lots of folks today just don't seem to know about. Disclaimer: I might have an advanced degree in Anthropology and even though I have actually met Giorgio A. Tsoukalos of Ancient Aliens fame I can make a pretty strong argument that here in Moundville there definitely were NOT any aliens involved in the construction unless they were highly intoxicated aliens with only stone age tech.

She was able to get on the 7th floor of her dorm, with a view of this park and river from her bed. Pretty damn cool. The park itself has a long walking trail with tones of shade and lots to see along the way. There are observation decks, river winning inlets, boat ramps, an area for the Alabama Row Team to launch from. There is a cool statue of Minerva in the middle of the park. Here is some info as to why: Who is she? Minerva, a Roman goddess with an entire laundry list of characteristics, including wisdom, law, justice, victory, strategy and arts. The owl, also symbolizing wisdom, is often depicted as her companion. But why is she here, on the University of Alabama campus? "The statue is Minerva, the Roman Goddess of wisdom, who also adorns the University's institutional seal," said UA President Stuart R. Bell. "She is a notable reminder of UA's commitment to serving others and how we are all one community with a shared vision of impacting the world through teaching, research and service." On the UA seal, Minerva is depicted wearing attire proper for a more ancient time - a long, flowing gown. They have done a great job keeping it natural while providing some amenities. We will be back again and again over the next 4-9 years, however long it takes the kiddo to move on from UA. '25 - 89/111

In the evening hours with the sun setting, it was a nice walk and I wasn't the only one to notice that. The walkways are (leashed) dog friendly and several families were out and about. There was a couple sitting on a blanked having a picnic as well as some weird looking photo shoot in a bubble. There is limited parking at the eastern end and I lucked out with a space. You might do better to park at the amphitheater and make the walk. There are no other active facilities here. I did not spot a playground or restrooms. The equipment is not cleaned properly, partially due to the minimum wage paid employees, because I wouldn't clean it either with that pay. Look out on the barbells and dumbbells for caked on dead skin from countless people. I do not want to have dead skin transferred to my hands, especially the germs!!This gym would be a lot better if it was cleaned better!

I thought it was very nice and could offer a lot. Going into my senior year, after over three years at this establishment, I still agree with those statements with a few caveats. First, three squat racks. Why? There are 40,000 people that go to school here. That is around 1 squat rack for every 13,000 students. That is a horrible ratio. I have waited in line for the squat racks for over 30 minutes before. That is time that I will never get back in my life. Fix it. Second, parking. This one is a little more specific but at the time of writing this review it is the summer. Why did I have to circle the parking lot 6 times to find a parking spot? During the summer, I look forward to the gym being empty. I am busy. I have a lot to do. It's just more wasting time trying to find a spot. A little heads up of the basketball tournament would have been nice. I'm glad that things are being hosted, but there are still patrons of the gym that want to workout. The parking situation isn't any better during the school year. Third, the strict no fun gym hours. Look, the hours here suck. Not just for the weight room, but for everything. The hours on the lap pool just down right don't make sense. There is a common issue with time. Time being wasted. Time = money so therefore money is being wasted. I value my time and this place is taking inconvenient amounts on it not for its primary purpose. Everything is like a YouTube ad. Like yeah you get to workout, but here is a 20 minute inconvenience for you beforehand. The equipment is nice though and it is better than paying for a Crunch membership. 7.5/10
