Lake county gas was a wonderful gas company until it was purchased by Amerigas. Since it was bought customer service has dropped drastically and cost of fuel has gone up. Tank rentals have doubled and any service you request they will charge you a hefty fee. I suggest you look else way for your propane service. Lake County gas is not worth the headache! read more

This place is disgusting. "Customer service is our top priority" my [rear end]. I just got off the phone with "John" the "district manager" for the company. I have exactly zero respect for any (I'd say "man," but it quickly became clear that I wasn't dealing with a "man.") So I'll say "company" that conducts "business" in the manner that I have experienced this company doing. We just bought a house in Hidden Valley Lake this month. Now admittedly, there was some mix up between my husband and I regarding which of us was supposed to get a hold of the gas company. That is our fault. But it's only been a couple of weeks. (With all of the other things going on with work, purchasing a home, leasing our other home, the holidays, etc, it's been pretty hectic, but still...) Now last night, I get home from work, and my daughter hands me a paper saying that Amerigas has shut off the gas. Mind you, there was no knock at the door, NO ringing of the perfectly working doorbell. THREE people happened to be here at the time this would have happened. Money is not our issue. Organization of paperwork, maybe. But not money. I called Amerigas this morning, assuming some misunderstanding, or maybe the guy simply did not "feel" like ringing the bell. We've all had hard days. Expecting a reasonable response based on how often they print and claim on their automated messages that "Customer service is their top priority," I was SEVERELY let down. What a joke. The receptionists are not friendly. "We MAY be able to come out in a week and a half to two weeks once you fill out an application and put the order in." To reconnect the gas that is in the tank is what I was told. Ok fine, I get that this is your policy on certain things, but surely, in DECEMBER, your company has SOME sort of alternative, since your guy didn't even have the decency to RING THE DOORBELL when he came by to shut off the gas at a home we JUST purchased. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, thinking foolishly that perhaps the receptionists simply weren't "allowed" to deviate from the policy, and to inquire why the gas guy hadn't rung the doorbell, I was connected with "John." John is an awful person. I absolutely cannot believe he "has run a company" (like this!!!) for HOW long?! After speaking with others, I am NOT the only person disgusted with him and this company. John continued to say the exact same thing and when I told him the guy didn't ring the doorbell or anything, he basically called me a liar, saying "that guy has been working for me for 25 years (or however long those two have worked together) and he called and said there were two cars in the driveway (the Mercedes didn't indicate we have no problem paying you for gas and maybe it was a simple oversight?) but no one answered the door." So he basically called me and the other THREE respectable, grown individuals who WERE IN FACT HOME at the time (yes, some of us work from home!) liars, and when I attempted to tell him that clearly "his guy" was mistaken somehow, he interrupted me repeatedly. But mind you, it is NOT "okay" to interrupt JOHN, when he decides to go back into the SAME defensive, RIDICULOUS business policies that they have. When I tried to speak, because he and his awful receptionists already went over their policies and I didn't much care to hear it YET AGAIN, he quite rudely told me to not interrupt him. Several times. Un. Be. Lievable. I have a plethora of "little man syndrome" suspicions and judgments in this particular area that have obviously sprung from my disgust and frustration in dealing with such a foul company, but hey... So then I called "ER Energy". Wow! What a difference!! The receptionists were both incredibly friendly, (turns out one of them used to work for the other company but left because of the same stuff I described above! And no wonder! I can't even IMAGINE how "John" treats decent employees, after experiencing how he treats "customers!") ER Energy came right out, replaced the tank, and was delightful to deal with. Im going to go give a positive review for ER Energy now. Go there. No, I'm not being compensated in any way by writing this. I'm just THIS disgusted with "Amerigas." read more

I am not impressed. Horrible customer service, You cannot even reach a real person when calling their offices. Left message after message to no avail. Because one has not so great credit, pre0paying means you MAY get your tanks filled sometime in the next two weeks. Disgusted. read more

I agree w/ Mary Lou and Candace. This business is the WORST! The guys who actually deliver your propane are nice but everyone else in the chain is lost. Can't reach a live person on any of their phone numbers and no one ever returns calls. They send you bill after bill but never acknowledge payments. Have had to call multiple times to get service. Paid to have my tank topped off, finally got it, paid $900 and then received numerous calls from Amerigas (parent company) threatening to shut off service for non-pymt. Confirmed that check was cashed w/ my bank but Lake Co. Gas still doesn't acknowledge pymt and sends past due notices. As soon as I use up what's left in my tank I'm going with another provider. read more

Since Lake county gas took over, we have been over billed, the answer was, "it was the computer system" really, don't they check to see what is sent out. Their answer was everyone was over billed and new bills will come out. Never happened. Most recently we paid our bill on-line thru their system. Bad idea, The checking account numbers were correct, plenty of money in the bank, somehow their system sent it to a wrong account and it was returned to them. That cost $33.00 extra. The prior months payment went thru fine. They won't refund the $33.00. They say that is what their bank charged them for the handling fee. The one thing I can say good about them is that the men that come around to read the Propane meter is really nice and knows what he is doing. read more

The customer service is terrible. When you call the lady that answers is really rude and your lucky if they show up to fill after wanting to be paid up front. Nothing better than paying hundreds of dollars before they deliver than running out of propane because they are to busy to show up!! Boo! read more

We have been waiting for a refund since May 2012.I have had to go above Lake County Gas Offices head to get a refund.Lake County Gas is now owned by Amerigas.The couple who use to own Lake County Gas sure dont care any longer. If we didnt pay for our gas on time we would be cut off immediately.Lake County Gas can take over 4 months to refund your money with no interest.Very poor business practices on there part not to mention follow up.Shame on you!!!! read more

Is propane your only source of heat. Well don't depend on lake county gas to care about the well fare of your family. $175 for same day service or $100 for second day service on top of the propane fee. Otherwise be prepared to wait 7 - 10 days for a delivery. It has been in the twenties every night. Its sad to hear this is how they treat there regular customers, I guess this the price we pay for renting their tank. I could understand a reasonable emergency fee of even $50, but $175 is pure greed!!!! read more

Horrible customer service! Our ordeal began last November and continuing! We stopped service (moving). Asked repeatedly that they lock the tank and pick it up. Finally it got picked up and was told it was 50% full and we would get a refund. Have been following up ever since. January 24th confirmed we were getting a refund in 3-4 weeks - nothing arrived. March 6th Linda said our refund was being processed. Talked to her this morning and it had not yet been processed. If we had owed them the money we would have been contacted by a collection agency by now. Come on!! It's our money! If I had not documented everything and the names of everyone I've spoken to over there we would have only had a $50+ refund instead of what was rightfully over $400+!!! HORRIBLE WAY TO CONDUCT BUSINESS!! I could go on and on about this predicament but I hope you get the picture - either get people in there who know what they are doing and can do the job or don't use Lake County Gas. read more

Very impressed with Lake County Gas - Excellent & prompt customer service! We were in a bif bind, this past winter on a very cold Sunday night, we had no hot water or heat. Our gas had run out late that Sunday night, so we called the customer service number. We were called back right away & got our tank filled. Finally got through to the Lakeport office after 3 days of trying. The lady was very apologetic. We live in a tourist area and apparently with the holidays there was quite a backlog. I was given a credit for the overcharge on the last bill and a gas delivery is scheduled for the next seven days. If the gas arrives on time and there are no more problems I will raise the review to 4 stars. I can't say I am happy with Lake County Gas, but after dealing with Michelle over the phone, I am much less annoyed. She did a great job this morning sorting out someone else's mess. read more

Last gas delivery at $6.19/gal? What's up with that? I read averages less than $4 per gal in midwest where real shortages exist! In two months I have been billed for $1,400 for 2 fill-ups just over 100 gal each. I used to pay that amount for an entire year. Wondering if this is because of recent merger. The delivery slips used to show the cost at fillup and because of the new merger/new computer system I didn't even get the previous bill at $5/gal until after the new fill over $6 per gal. read more

Horrible place to do business. I canceled service because of them overcharging. They tried to charge me $4.77 gallon when others were charging 2.59 and 2.79. I went in to the office to complain, then they said that I could get the community discount.(what is that). I took it with the mind set that I'm changing companies. Can't do business with someone that doesn't charge everyone the same amount. I changed to Eel River Fuels and arranged for Lake County Gas to pick up their tank which had 24% fuel left in it. I have a receipt from the other installation that states that there was 24% left. I ask the driver that picked up the Lake County Gas tank and he said that it would get measured back at their place of business and then I would get the refund. I just got an overdue statement for 141.04, so I called and they said that I only owed 39.99 for tank pick up. So I said to deduct it from my refund. They said that I wasn't getting a refund because my tank was empty when it was returned. The person said that they would call the new propane provider to verify that there was 24% fuel left. She did call and it was verified that there was 24% left, but Lake County Gas is sticking to the fact that the work order says that the tank was empty. Now, I ask you, if it was truly empty, what did the driver do with the propane? I have a very private driveway where it could not have been stolen at my location without being seen day or night, just not possible. Is this someone that you want to do business with? I moved to the area recently. The rental I live in had tanks with Blue Star gas who was bought by Lake County Gas. We received a letter in the mail informing us of the change but that it wouldn't affect our service in any way. We originally had a payment plan set up with blue star which made it affordable and convenient to afford the gas refills. After a while, lake county gas sent us a bill for gas that was provided to my home without me calling them ( I had the will call option). I didn't mind since I would still need the propane. I was making payments thinking they were still honoring the payment plan I had set up. I just recently made a call because I needed to refill and because they sent an overdue bill for the gas I was provided. they told me I had to pay in full the amount that I was making payments on or pay the new refill in full if I wanted to get refilled. They never informed me of any changes to my plan. I explained to the the gentleman that helped me that I had a payment plan set up but he said I still had to pay it. He sounded confused so he said he would have someone else call me back. I had to call back because they never did. The second person I spoke to seemed confused as well and I had to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor told me that I did have a payment plan set up but that I still had to pay the balance or the refill in full because refills were not covered. I asked why do they even offer payment plans then?!? She said they would have to create another payment plan after I paid either the balance or the new refill ( I've never missed a payment btw). The technician that originally hooked up my tanks when I moved in said the payment plan covered refills but now they're telling me they don't. This makes it difficult to afford gas which we need to keep our house warm. This company didn't honor their word and shows what kind of company they are. I wanted to cancel my service with them but because the tanks are theirs it would be difficult and costly. Anyone setting up service for propane, I wouldn't recommend this company. You'll save yourself the headache. read more
