This was my first time tubing in a river!…read more This place is almost two hours from Milwaukee! There's no cell phone reception but you'll have a great time without it. Make sure you download music before you leave home, and bring a speaker to play it as you ride along the river. When you arrive, there's not a ton of parking. I would recommend parallel parking on the streets and NOT parking in the 2 hour spots- those indicate that they will tow. Once you park, you go in a small building a pay for tubes. I believe it's $20 per person and $10 per "cooler tube". In the pictures attached you can see both types of tubes. This place is cash only!! They also have dog tubes. Not sure how much they cost, but they are pink and don't have a hole in the bottom. If you can snag a dog tube I would totally recommend riding in that as the water can get cold, and all my friends said their butts were really cold in the water. One of my friends and I did not have that issue with the dog tube. So once you get tubes, your coolers are checked for glass bottles! They are not allowed. They'll hand you ties to rope all your group's tubes together. You can see what I mean in the photos attached. From there you go to the river and basically tie all the tubes together, get in, and float for 4-5 hours! I would absolutely recommend taking some types of paddles/oars as we often ended up floating towards the banks of the river and had to find ways to push ourselves out. There were a few places you could get out of the river along the way, but at the first stop my friend got out and ended up walking into a bee hive! Stung 5 times. There's no first aid on the river, so if something like this happens to you unfortunately you just have to deal with it. It might make sense to bring a first aid kit just in case! In total there are four "markers" along the river. The exit comes after the fourth marker. When you go under the bridge you know you're nearing the end. When it's time to exit the river, there are employees that instruct you to stand and exit the river, leaving the tubes and all coolers behind. They pull all the tubes in and pass the coolers to you. There are a few portable restrooms there but I didn't use them. We then boarded a school bus (image attached) that took us on a 7 minute ride back to the original ticket purchase building, and that's the end. Overall, I thought it was fun. I didn't like that I had to pay in cash and I also did not enjoy that we were told we'd float for 3.5 hours and ended up floating for almost 5!

So I sent a message just to make sure that this included the day we planned to go and they told me to check back with them the next day to see if we'd be able to go or not! I asked if I could message them at 7 am and they said yes and that they would be "watching for my message!" So I sent a message a little before 7 asking how the river was that morning with no reply! So I sent another message about 45 minutes later that said it was ok if we couldn't go, but that we had a 2 hour drive so I wanted to make sure either way...again no response! They didn't respond the entire day! Communication is so Important for a business and while I completely understand that the river level is out of their control, a quick message back saying they'd have to stay closed is all I asked for!

For only $13, and about an hour's drive from Madison, you can spend an entire summer day in the sun on the water. When you check in, you are taken by bus to the river. The guide helps you tie your rafts together and sends you on your way. Bring your coolers, snacks, beverages, and some friends that you don't mind bring tied up with for 3+ hours. The current moves you along, and when the trip is done, your guide is there to take you back to the main site where you can change and clean up and head out on your way. The staff is so wonderfully helpful and accommodating. I'm not a super outdoorsy person, but I absolutely love this tubing experience.

What's the point of coming with friends or family if you're forced to go one by one like children? Staff were rigid and unhelpful, offering no real explanation. The whole place felt disorganized and frustrating, turning what should've been fun into a waste of time. Cold, crowded, and needlessly strict. Definitely not worth it.

The hills themselves were also poorly designed or maintained. Instead of tubing all the way down like you'd expect, our tubes kept stopping halfway down the hill. The recommendation would be to arrive around 10 am. as it does get crowded. Staff working are very friendly. Fill out the waiver and pay for tubes. At the time of review, the cash price for tubes is $20, and cooler tubes are $10. I believe there was a service charge for paying with credit card. Come with a group and tie your tubes together for a great time! The staff drive you and your tubes to the drop off point. It is about 3 to 4 hours to experience the tubing. Tips 1. Wear water shoes as some areas are rocky. 2. Don't dehydrate! Bring water. Alcohol is allowed in cans. Glass bottles are not allowed. They provide you with garbage bags. Don't be a jerk. Pick up all of your trash. At the end of the route, there are garbage cans for your garbage. 3. Reapply your sunscreen. 4. Our group likes to hit Subway before hitting the campground. Something about a sandwhich in the water hits the spot. 5. Bring a change of clothes, towels, shoes (leave in your car). They have shower areas which are very nice for a campground.

The first site that we originally purchased the electricity hook up was on a pole on the front of the campsite and our 25' cord wouldn't even come close to it. Also the water hookup was two sites over. I tried calling several times and no one answered so we had to drive our camper back up to store. We were then given a site back down where we originally were just 5 sites down. We drove back to where we came from and you can't read any of the markers because everything is so overgrown. After figuring it out some was already on that site all set up. We went back to the store and and told them we weren't staying...they obviously did not care. Pretty said because what you pay for is not worth it.

First off, even before…read morewe got there, I knew we were going to have an amazing time - I had been coordinating with one of the owners, Lynne for about a month prior. She was soooo nice and answered all my questions in a very timely manner. There was so much back and forth on my end, but she didn't mind one bit! When we got there last Friday, it was super busy! I was a bit taken aback and was wondering if it would be a cluster-F.... but boy was I wrong! Lynne and her husband (sorry I forgot his name :( ) were so professional and helpful in getting our large group of 10 together and ready to float! They also were a lot of fun to talk to and to hear their story of how they started the business, as well as helpful tips for when we're out on the river. The float itself was AWESOME - We were very lucky that the weather was beautiful, which of course helped our cause. The river was very clean, and Lynne had also told us that her husband and a friend had gone down the river the day before with a chainsaw, cutting out any branches and logs that had fallen through the pathway due to the storm earlier that week. Now that's great customer service! In a heartbeat, I will go back to Grant River Tubin' for some floatin' fun! Everyone in our group had a wonderful time. We just all wished it had been an even longer float!
