Also, the residents are all lovely. Shelly is the person to go to for tours! She's knowledgeable, kind, and passionate. At Belmont they truly apply research combined with be very specific individual needs of each resident. Once an Alzheimer's patient becomes a "flight risk" many facilities just make sure that they are safe and secure and give a little thought to they are quality of life which results in a rapid decline. When she suffered additional strokes and had to be on hospice, the caregivers and the entire wellness care staff upheld her wishes exactly as requested. My mom had been in several other care homes/situations, and I enjoyed coming to visit her at Belmont Village the most by far. The entire community from staff to other residents were super sweet and friendly, and the atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. They aids just sit their talking Spanish to each other and talking about the patient. (They didn't know I understood) instead of caring for patient. Secondly, you probably already know that almost all of these facilities suck and are many flavors of sketchy. NOT this place. The Orchards gives off a whole different and positive vibe from the start when you walk in the main entrance. Everything is clean, actually clean, even the patient bathrooms, closets, behind the doors, everywhere is clean. The ratio of staff to patients is SO MUCH better than other facilities my family member has been too. I believe there's maximum 50 patients. The bedrooms are next level. They have 4-5 options ranging from a shared room with two people, to completely private with your own bathroom and living room/lounge area, obviously at a higher price point. But even the shared bedrooms are awesome as they have a closet/cabinet that divides the room, not just a sheet. Makes it so much better to have that division. ***Most importantly the Rehab staff is AMAZING!!!*** The amount of effort and thought they put into the individuals rehabilitation program is far greater than any other facility we have been to. They aren't trying to milk the process and allow people to just sit doing non productive activities just so they can bill for it. They're constantly assessing and evolving the game plan as they go. 10/10 best team of therapists. hands down. bar none. The staff communicates extremely clearly and reach out if they have pertinent info in regards to my family members health, progress, and well being. Which is something I've never experienced, usually I have to track people down and it's like pulling teeth to get answers or info. The food is good, and comparably to other places it's the best menu I've seen. Don't get me wrong it's not gourmet living but they have solid options. When you see a plate of food, it actually looks a cooked meal, not school lunch slop. They also have off menu items like sandwiches and what not if your family member is a picky eater. If you got this far in my Mega novel of a review then you obviously are deep in the process and looking for answers. Eight weeks is a long time to be in a skilled nursing facility, so we had plenty of time to experience both the positives and the areas that could use some improvement. Overall, the care he received was very good. The CNAs, nurses, physical therapists, and office staff were all caring, helpful, and supportive throughout his stay. The facilities themselves are definitely 4-5 star. Having a private room made a huge difference. When you're in a facility for an extended period of time, having even a little privacy can help you feel almost human again. The Orchards also has equipment and machines to assist with just about anything you may need, which was very helpful during his recovery. There are a few areas that could use some TLC. Being asked each day what you would like for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is a definite plus, although the food would often arrive lukewarm. The PT and OT schedules were also somewhat laid-back. We were never quite sure when they would arrive, although the therapists and staff themselves were great. Getting into The Orchards was difficult, probably because of their good reputation and demand for beds. A very special shout-out to Katherine, who was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to help us get him a bed. Her help and kindness during what was already a stressful time meant so much to us. Overall, we were very pleased with the care my husband received at The Orchards and are grateful to the staff who helped him through a very long and challenging recovery.
