I remember freaking out when she was accepted because I know my father would have wanted her to attend. The acceptance letter arrived postmarked on his birthday. It was a message from heaven I couldn't ignore. Reality set in when I had to budget the expense for travel, tuition, room and board and more. My daughter worked in high school and she had to hold a part time job through college and full time in summers. She's definitely the product of a single parent household with no financial support from anyone else! As for campus Notre Dame Stadium is my favorite college football stadium. Since my daughter was a student I attended games. They changed the stadium a little adding seats. I'm partial to the historic stadium. I would watch Notre Dame play anywhere but being in this historic stadium is always spiritually moving. Another campus favorite is the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. It is a historic college landmark. I've been to the University of Notre Dame on many occasions over the years. I've also visited during every season of the year. I always visit the grotto when I tour the campus. Naturally I light a candle for my hearts desire at the time I visit. I remember my daughter's Senior Year I prayed for my daughter to get a job when she graduated! Education is the bottom line including the support the university provides to the students they accept. Whatever assistance you need to pass a required course is available to students. My daughter had a Tudor for her math class. On campus employment is available and definitely job placement after graduation. My daughter applied to have a job mentor in her senior year. Her mentor helped her dress and coached her regarding everything from resume writing to job interview skills including how to dress. I can't count all the blessings and the change in my life because my child has a degree from the University of Notre Dame. I'm definitely riding on her coattails. If you or your child are fortunate enough to get accepted by all means attend and take your studies seriously! You won't regret it.

Visited Notre Dame Law School in early January...just when the campus had been reopened from…read moreChristmas break. There still were no classes or students on campus, but the buildings were open so we could get a peek inside. Notre Dame Law School is smack dab in the middle of the campus...easy reach from everything. The facilities - split between Eck Hall (mostly classrooms and faculty offices) and Biolchini Hall (mostly administrative offices and a few large classrooms, besides the four story Kresge Library) - are very nice...everything concerning the Law School is contained in these two interconnected buildings. This location happens to be on the marching band route on football days also, so it is a very popular site. The Law School facilities are nice and modern and they have tons of room. The law school used to be smooshed into Biolchini Hall...but the 2009 addition of Eck Hall pretty much doubled the space and gave everything more room. As you enter Eck Hall, you enter a three-story atrium connecting the first few floors with the classrooms and the main courtroom. The moot courtroom is laid out as a normal courtroom, but it also has a large sliding screen in front that shields the judges bench for straight classroom seating...nice convertible addition. This is where most of the guest speakers deliver the goods. As to the classrooms - many are laid out like traditional rectangles, others in the pie-wedge shape...all seem to have up-to-date technology keeping students plugged in. The lecture and seminar rooms were very nice and on the newish side. It is obvious the Law School is reinvesting in its property. The Kresge Law library in Biolchini Hall is superb. Carrels, large tables, easy seating, breakout rooms, and more are strewn about all four floors making for loads of options for the students. There are only enough carrels for 100 or so, so not everyone can have one assigned for the semester. Overall seating is over 550 though, so there is lots of space. With all the seating and study space, there is also a main reading room in the library. With soaring gothic windows and atrium space this library has a very open and spacious feeling. Lockers for the students are on the lower level in Biolchini Hall. The second floor connecting link between the two buildings houses a cafeteria for students and faculty. Notre Dame's Law School is well-ranked in the top-25 tier of schools and the faculty is well regarded. Being located less than two hours away from the major legal market of Chicago, the school has the benefit of job/internship opportunities for students. When we were out looking at law schools, we stopped by for a visit...even though we showed up unannounced they had someone in the Admissions Office who set us on a self-guided tour of the facilities...nice touch. It just showed a welcoming attitude, and a school that is not resting on its laurels. A good choice for a top-25 law school less than 2 hours from Chicago.

The quality of education is top notch. I felt that I was in a safe community when I visited. Making a decision about where to attend university is hard. If you can get accepted consider Holy Cross College.

Holy cross college is a small liberal arts college located across the street from Notre Dame and…read morenext to saint Mary's college. It offers different bachelor degree options. Holy cross also takes a holistic approach to learning as well, with the academic portion of education there is also an internship, service learning and global immersion experience as well! Another great feature of holy cross is it's small class sizes, you won't be just a number in the classroom professors know your name! The tri campus community is also fostered as well, if you are a holy cross student you can also enjoy different aspects of campus life at ND and SMC.

I am a student in the Lifestyle Medicine track, and I had hard times with this school - It is about…read morethe way they communicate with us - if I did a mistake while writing one of my papers, instead of notifying about it , they directly installed sanctions and treated me as an impostor - for example about the way we should use the Turnitin - they did not provide any orientation , the specifc way it works on their Canvas( software) I had a bad score and instead of being notified to redo my paper, they did a long lecture to me treating me like I am violating their rules and they already considered a violation on my part. This summer semester, I got another low score on Turnitin but I was not aware of this score( because the score did not produce right away) and instead of getting notified right away, after the TA reviewed my paper , they waited three weeks and then they said they put me on probation and they suspended me from the next semester. I said to them that they have abusive rules, they should have notified me immediately and given me the chance to redo my paper, this school should not impose forcefully upon students, and they should give us chance to improve and grow appropriately at our own pace. and behave in a manner that does not terrorize psychologically and emotionally the students- they put you too easily on probation and after two probations they dismiss you from the program They should instead give clearer and better orientations, they should be more patient and kind, and notify upon any bad occurence and give that student the chance to make up for their mistake I do not consider they behave in an ethical and humane manner and they should not be allowed to do that with their students I am international student meaning even I live in the US, my native language is not English, I have not studied so much writing essays when I was in school and for me it is harder to write perfectly these essays that they require from us They should be more understanding of each student level and meet us where we are with kindness not with lack of support.
