It is…read moregetting a new addition this year that will improve handicap accessibility and add more classrooms. The PTA/PTO is mostly new moms rebooting the group. There is a new Asst. Vice Principal and P.E. teacher as of last year who seem very good. It is a very LARGE elementary school with close to 500 students (about 75-100 in each grade/22-23 per class). It has sacrificed its once large library for additional class rooms. The playground although up to code is showing it's age. The school is adjacent to Kennedy Park that has some lovely facilities. The principal and school staff works very hard with what they have and are generally supportive and friendly. Study groups and after school activities are almost non-existent. MSCR, the YMCA, Scouting groups and Girls on the Run provide outside options for these activities. The school seems to have a decent music and art program. They have a classroom dedicated to technology assisted learning using chrome books that student can use 1-2 times a week. They also have a 3D printer. All school communications are provided in either American English, Spanish or Hmong. The school offers before and after childcare and there are many in-home child providers in walking distance. (Use Nextdoor.com to access them.) The size of the school and difficulty in pick-up and drop-off from Meadowlark proved too much for us. We are looking into a smaller, more manageable environment for our children next year. I suggest parents do their research and check out all the area school alternatives when enrolling their child. MMSD home schooling and private schools such as St. Dennis Catholic, Holy Cross Lutheran and Abundant Life are popular alternatives in this area.

However, obtaining the "Classroom Completion--Notice of Transfer" form--that we needed by law, apparently--was like extracting a tooth. It wasn't that MADS was begrudging us for jumping ship. Rather, Jim, whom I'm guessing is the owner, was simply overwhelmed or unable to deal with the newfangled computer technology. He sent a screenshot of the form that was not submitted to DMV, and the new driving school wouldn't accept that. It took nearly a week of many ignored text messages and screenshots, unanswered phone calls to Jim (but no voice messages--MADS voicemail was full) for him to finally realize that he needed to merely hit the "submit" button on that screen for the form to go to the DMV, who would then forward to us. Jim, when I was able to get him on the phone, finally, even suggested that the form was lost at DMV. So I spent a good hour on the phone with DMV to track it down. What a colossal waste of time for something that should've been automatic! Ultimately, I was disappointed by how Jim handled the entire mess. On the one hand, he did his best. On the other, DMV said that MADS should've directly given us that completion form when my son completed the online course. This seems very unprofessional of MADS not to have. So, MADS seems like an average driving school, but a bit technologically challenged, overwhelmed, and not responsive. Had Jim simply listened to the problem and reacted responsibly--or apologized--I would've given the school 3 stars, or not written a review at all.

Next, they read a story which is projected on the wall, so everyone can see. After the story, they get to put on adorable costumes and act out the story. There are usually fun props too. The last week of class is family week, and the kids do a short performance. Parents can watch the class through large windows or sit in the chairs in the waiting area. They have Wi-Fi available. My girls look forward to ballet every week and have a blast. The teachers are energetic and kind and know each student by name. They make learning skills fun. Highly recommend for little ballerinas.

The owner, Meredith takes extraordinary care in hiring and training quality teachers. The classes are specifically meant for children 3-9 years old. Class size is not too big which is perfect for personal attention of children by the teacher. That means the classes are perfectly suited to the right age and ability. The younger children get to be Belle, Snow White, Clara and variety of other characters. Movement, story, imagination and a beautiful costume, is just what a child needs. For anyone looking for fun, age-appropriate, quality ballet instruction for their child (or for themselves), look no further than Storybook Ballet. .
