The members were so warm and friendly that I felt right at home from the moment I first visited…read more My family has been going there now for a couple years and we enjoy working with the people doing different outreaches and things. The pastor teaches with enthusiasm, and does not spend time pointing out what's wrong with all the other denominations. I read a previous review which was very negative, but that was not the current pastor. He's very connected to other ministers of various kinds in the area, and in fact, many are good friends and a support group for each other. Oakside is a smallish congregation that is growing and open to the Holy Spirit in worship and teaching. There's a clear love for people in the community, as evidenced by the ministries that the church does regularly. There's a nursing home ministry group, a Christian radio station (WOAK 90.9FM), outreaches to the teachers and athletes of Troup High School which is just across the road from the church, to name a few. Just recently there was a First Responders Sunday which required a lot of effort and planning to minister specifically to first responders and their families. It's a great place to come and be loved and nurtured. The teaching is excellent, very deep. It gives me something to think about all week and really challenges me to examine my own heart and thoughts so I can grow in my relationship with Christ. My teens all tell me that they enjoy the teaching for the same reasons.

I was welcomed very warmly by the members, and I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. However, I was…read moreincredibly offended when the pastor at one point in the message made the claim "this is the only place you will find real Bible based preaching." Despite the fact that his message focused soley on politcal issues, and very little on Biblical information or dissection, he continued to reiterate his opinion by dismantling the doctrinal values of not only other denominations, but other Baptist churches as well. I would never consider moving my membership to a church that promotes itself on such arrogant grounds. I am not from LaGrange, and I do not know the history nor the doctrinal grounds of the other churchs (from what I was told 80-something) in this area, and I am not familiar enough to be able to decide whether this pastor's claims were accurate. However, because of such an arrogant, prideful, and distasteful presentation I would much rather attend a church with a less judgemental, and genuinely welcoming vibe.

Everything below has been reported to the authorities…read more My grandchildren go there. Their Mom is working on finding new care for them. There's been several incidents prior to today, but what happened today was unacceptable. Parents need to be aware. Prior to today, my daughter picked up the kids at least four times and the youngest had a dirty diaper. Not wet. Dirty. She had diaper rash several times. One has autism. With therapy, speech is improving but still a struggle. My daughter received a call a day or so ago complaining that there was verbal bullying. Nope. No examples. Just verbally bullying. Unless circumstances are perfect, there are struggles with a complete sentence. They were also left unsupervised long enough to climb on top of a bookcase. There's been several other incidents, but those were the big flags. Today was a full banner. My daughter received a call around 430p that one had an accident. Theyd has never had an accident since potty training nearly a year ago. When asked why they didn't just change clothes, no answer was given. My daughter had to leave her job to go to the daycare. Once there, she found them covered in feces. They'd left them in that mess. And no extra clothes. The clothes were gone. By the time she got home, their skin was red. While at the school when being picked up, they were distraught. Theyd asked to go to the toilet while on the playground, but were refused. When my daughter asked why, she said that she would've had to take all 17 kids inside, so they should've waited. A three year old? Also concerning. She said all 17 kids. The ratio for 3yo is a maximum of 1:15. One last note: when my daughter reported this to the state, she was told it wasn't the first report of neglect.
