I wanted to see a necklace that was in a case, so I waited patiently until one of the two employees was available. When I asked if I could see it, the employee dramatically sighed and asked which one. I pointed it out, and she grabbed it, put it on the counter, and immediately started walking away. I had to get her attention again to ask what material it was. She responded, "Well, what does the tag say?" I looked at the other side of the tag, which had "gp" scribbled on it. She then said, with an annoyed tone, "Okay, so it's gold plated," as though I had asked some ridiculous question. Then she walked away again. The entire interaction was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I was trying to purchase an item from the store. Instead, I was made to feel like I was bothering her simply by asking a question about something I was considering buying. I was so put off by the interaction that I didn't even want the necklace anymore. Why go out of your way to make a paying customer feel unwelcome for no apparent reason? I won't give my money to a business where the staff can't be bothered to treat customers with basic courtesy and respect. If you look at their Google reviews, the staff's attitude is a known issue. They apologize in response to reviews but make no adjustments. It's a shame for a store with such a nice selection and location to have the employees ruin the experience.

Every one of my experiences has been terrific and I always look forward to going there. In early July I purchased a purse from Allie June, which I loved and used a lot--unfortunately, the handle broke unexpectedly. I called Allie June and left a message. She got back to me within 24 hours to let me know she had ordered a replacement, which I picked up this weekend during my visit to the Outer Banks over Labor Day weekend. Allie made a point to give me the bag personally and thank me for my patience in waiting for a new bag. The shop is in a great location, right off the main road in Duck and surrounded by other stores...and fun things for my hubby and kids to do while I took my time deciding. Actually my hubby kept our two boys outside juggling and eating ice cream while I took our 3yo girl in with me. The women at Mango's were not only lovely to me, but very sweet with my daughter. They gave her something to play with, were happy to chat with her and let me take my time deciding. I finally decided on a silver beaded necklace with silver charm-and i love it.
