Even though it seems like the Covid 19 pandemic has been going on forever already, it was just 3…read moreweeks ago that my husband and I attended the wedding of good friends. These friends had each been divorced for many years and found each other...literally as next door neighbors about ten years ago. They decided it was important to them at this point to make their partnership legal and so they had a lovely wedding ceremony at City Hall and were married by the mayor of Jersey City. The reception was later held at this beautiful historic manse. Fortunately even though Covid was still in our midst things were not as bad then as they are now; the rooms were spacious and had enough room to practice appropriate social distancing. The architectural details abounded in this place. It seems to be a hidden jewel amidst the astonishing number of modern high rises that are popping up throughout Jersey City which is seeing a renaissance of sorts. It's a perfect venue for weddings, parties, music recitals and whatever you might need to rent a pretty space for. You can bring in your own caterers and bartenders as our friends did for this wedding. You are a Path subway line away from lower Manhattan. Suddenly there are quite a few reasons to venture out of Manhattan and over to Jersey City to experience. Who woulda thunk?

I've walked by this place numerous times on my way to downtown Jersey City but never had the urge enough to venture in. Finally, it took a local fundraising music festival to grab my attention. EXPERIENCE On these dreaded humid sunny days, I made my way to the cemetery gates, went inside and gravely read the stones of all these people and those lives as I wondered where they were now. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of spots (no known private lot) along the main drag of Newark Ave. and all surrounding roads - 'nuff said. It wasn't very decorative (e.g. fountains, monuments, murals), but at the end of the day it was a place for loved ones to pay their respects to those who have gone before them. It needed a ton of TLC (hence, the goats, which will be covered in my next review), and more historical marketing. And, I always loved supporting small businesses whenever possible. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience between the two visits was around $0.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). There are three bridges that comprises the Triborough Bridge: East River Suspension Bridge - 8 lanes of I-278 (Bronx and Queens spans) Harlem River Lift Bridge - 6 lanes of NYS Route 900G (NY 900G) Bronx Kills Through Truss Bridge - 8 lanes of I-278 connects the Bronx with Randalls Island I was once fortunate that a colleague drove me all the way home from Bronx to Queens. At long last, I did not have to endure the tormenting MTA NYC Transit subway. Vehicle traffic did move moderately without any delays or impediments. There were no pothole seen. As a lifelong passenger, to me, the seen of Triborough Bridge is smooth and efficient to drive because of its cashless toll system rendered since 2017 with cameras and RFID readers. Upper East Side is my home. We had our problems during the pandemic. Places were closing down…read morerapidly and we lost some historic bakeries and restaurants. Well it's looking to me like we are coming back quickly. Panera is back and Barnes and Noble is going to open. Both are within a half mile from my apartment. There's at least four new pizza joints in a half mile of my home too. We are definitely excited about Kossar's Bagels and Bialy's! We have more ice cream and cookie shops than ever before. Yes there's crime but that's in every neighborhood these days throughout the city. Yes it's expensive to rent an apartment. Just remember that it's worth it to be able to walk everywhere and not have the expense of a car and the expenses that come with a car. I'm not happy about Manhattan air quality and the air quality in my neighborhood. I just do the best I can. It's Five Stars for Museums, Educational Institutions, entertainment, sports programs, parks and playgrounds. Plus the public spaces and libraries. I can go on and on. I'm not recommending. Stay where you are! We have enough people here!
