My family was in town for a vacation from Chicago. Stayed in a rental house on Mona Lake. Wanted to drink some beers that we can't get in Illinois so we didn't bring any along. First thing we did when we arrived was google "Where to buy beer in muskegon" and Ladd's & Co. came up in a forum post on BA. It turn's out, they were five minutes away from where we were staying. Stopped in and were pleasantly surprised by there selection. Stocked up with a few six packs of Short's, some New Holland releases, a couple of bomber's from Right Brain and some Founder's All Day IPA. Talked with the owner a little bit. Very friendly and knowledgeable. While we were browsing, we were asked multiple times by a few different store employees if we needed any help finding anything. Love Ladd's! It's our local go to place to purchase beverages. If they don't have something in stock and they can order it, they will. Many different wines and beer to choose from. I wish their post office station inside would open earlier than 9:00am so I could stop more often on my way to work. read more

Overall, just an average liquor store. Owner is always claiming this and that and seems to be a real no it all. If you want real customer service and a better selection, just go to mega bev in Kalamazoo. If you are stuck in Muskegon, it is a decent option then some of the competitors in the area. I've been a customer of Ladd's for 20 plus years. Only 2 weeks ago I spent nearly $300 there picking up holiday cheer. Today, while on a hunt for Beaujolais Nouveau I stopped in and was sooooo excited to see they had 5 bottles remaining. The rest of Muskegon was sold out. I talked with the owner's daughter about how excited I was and told her everyone else was sold out. She made conversation about how they normally get a bigger allotment on releases. For those not familiar with the wine, it is released once a year on the 3rd week of November. It is a red wine that is best to drink within a few months (hence the word New in its name). As I was driving away from Ladd's I looked at a bottle and noticed it was from 2019! I was upset thinking about the conversation I had with the owners daughter and how she had to know what she was selling me. When I returned she had the owner (her dad) talk to me. She tried to say that she, as well as someone else, told me it was last years release. Ultimately, they did begrudgingly refund my money. But not before the owner tried to tell me he's been doing this for 20 years and red wine doesn't go bad to which I replied that this specific wine is meant to drink right away. He waved his hand at me I suppose to say 'fine' and walked away. Ultimately, they were trying to be deceitful. Ladd's has one of the best cold beer selections in the area, they also have a pretty good wine selection. The owner is very knowledgeable and helpful in guiding you to some good choices. Ladd's and company is such a great place! I have been in there many times and every time all of the workers are right there to assist me and help me find what I am looking for. The owner's are always trying to help and make sure their co-workers are as well. They have such a great selection and I always feel welcomed when I walk into the store.
