It's weird but I kind of love this nice, big recycling center. You can bring so much stuff here to…read moredispose of or recycle. One one side of the facility you can bring cardboard and other mixed recycling of the sort that you probably also get picked up at home, as well as scrap metal (separate bins for aluminum and non-aluminum) and organics. But the drive-inside section is where you can give them old or broken electronics, chemicals such as cleaning supplies, and hazardous waste. They also take plastic bags and similar plastic film. Some things they won't take include styrofoam, construction debris, or any appliances with freon such as freezers or air conditioners. There is a whole indoor section with large room of reuse shelves. It is filled with paints and chemical supplies that were brought in for disposal, but they deemed them reusable. (NOTE: there are limits to the number of visits and items you can take; see my pics.) And they have a calendar of programs such as a "fix-in clinic" where community members will try to fix broken stuff you bring in, and gently-used school supply drives. Also there is a small free library! (NOTE: don't give it books, just take them. Give books to an actual library instead.) They are only open Tuesday through Saturday, limited daytime hours, and there is nothing available outside of the opening hours. But when they are open, they are fully staffed with very helpful people.

We've been coming here for a few years now. The W.C.E.C. is open to all residents of Washington County. The W.C.E.C. pretty much takes all those things you could throw out in your normal garbage and all of the items you can't throw out, for FREE. Yes FREE. Some of the items we have taken there over the years are truck loads of cardboard boxes. We've been in our house for over 20 years. I've saved boxes from years ago "in case" we move again so we can pack items in their same box. This has lead to us having way too many boxes. So the "boss" finally said we need to get rid of a bunch of these boxes. We loaded up our truck and dropped them off at the W.C.E.C. We've also taken cans of paint and stain as well as TV's and electronics. The list of items they do not accept is far and few as they accept a lot of items. Did I mention this is FREE? The process is quicker than going to your local drive thu. You pull in and follow the signs to their garage area. As you pull up they ask to see you license and then they unload your items. This is better for the environment and you don't have to pay your garbage company. The other thing that they do is somehow refurbish paint and cleaning items and sell them for pennies of the dollar inside their shop. This is a great way to save some money on items you'll use around the house. Cleaning and organizing our home certainly helps me be more like Mr Mom than that "guy", The longer we're around, the more we will be back to the W.C.E.C.

I come here multiple times a week and easily get paid hundreds of dollars in scrap steel/aluminum. Pull into a parking spot, they bring a large bin to the back of your vehicle, at that point all YOU have to do is toss your steel, copper and aluminum in separate bins. They weigh the bins, and you get paid. simple as that. If you can't unload your items yourself, bring a friend. They're already plenty busy. Using these services not only keeps waste out of the landfill, but also saves you a ton of money on disposal fees!

I called several towing companies looking for a rough estimate and some guidance on getting rid of my 2010 Toyota Corolla. Since I wasn't familiar with the process, I had a lot of questions, but most places seemed uninterested and weren't very helpful. I found Sell A Junker through Google, called, and spoke to (if I remember correctly) Riley, who was friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain how everything worked, from the assessment and towing to the title transfer and payment. He made the whole process easy to understand. They made everything pretty simple. We set up a time that worked for both of us, they came out to my car in South Minneapolis, looked it over, handled the paperwork, and paid me on the spot.
