The quality of instruction was solid, but the way the gym was ran could be frustrating. Classes were frequently canceled with little or no notice--whether it's due to rain, the coach being sick, personal events, holidays, or sometimes no given reason at all. As a paying member, this was disappointing. Even if you don't attend every class, it's fair to expect the option to be there consistently, especially with a monthly membership. The facility itself is quite small, and it often got very loud due to the number of parents and spectators crowded around during class. It can be distracting and makes the environment feel a bit chaotic, especially when space is already limited. There's a lot of potential here, but better scheduling reliability, a clearer structure, and improved facility management would go a long way in enhancing the overall experience. Great Jiu Jitsu, but poor business practices from a consumer perspective. read more

Wow. What an incredible place. I got hooked on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu a few weeks ago in another state and am passing though Jacksonville to visit family and wanted to find a place to practice while here. Labyrinth Jiu Jitsu was a powerful experience. The quality of teaching is awesome, I learned so much! (I attended one adult GI class -for which they generously provided me a GI with, and fundamentals class). They are also incredibly kind, welcoming, accommodating and they have made a difference in my path! Plus, I had so much fun. So grateful to have found this place, I can't recommend it enough. Will be coming back when passing through again! read more

Coach Teddy's approach to training I would say is motivating, systematic, and thorough. First of all, Coach truly understands how to communicate and teach. Jiu Jitsu is complicated enough as it is, but with Coach's back ground in multiple forms of martial arts, and a huge major in wrestling, he can articulate and explain the best way for the students to understand. He also uses his skills as a US Marine with multiple college degrees and competitive experience to lead his students of all ages by example the best way possible. His approach to training makes sense and each of his classes build upon each other. My daughters, 8 and 7 were nervous to try this sport after visiting other local gyms and gyms in other states, but upon meeting Coach Teddy and his junior coaches they jumped in feet first with huge smiles. Since beginning training they have behaved better, listened better, and are even nicer to each other. The last thing I will say if you have made it this far is that Coach Teddy has built and continues to work on the culture of his gym. The students here at Twisted Kraken all enjoy training with each other. The kids classes also seem to have fun with each other. I trained at another local gym for 4 months before deciding to leave. No where near the kind of fun it is to train at Twisted Kraken. I've also learned more in 1 month than I did in the previous gym. I'm grateful to train here.
