Unfortunately a while back they stopped having a receptionist. So if you have a problem, a question, any trouble with the computer check-in, TOO BAD. More than once, the kiosk didn't work and we waited forever until the entire waiting room cleared and refilled. So, if you MUST go here, be sure your (partial) name appears on the TV screen. Some people have resorted to entering their names multiple times just to be sure. So inefficient. Another issue is if you need to drop off a specimen, you also need to sign in and wait. So if the room is full, you SIT and WAIT just to DROP OFF a specimen! When there was a receptionist, it took a minute. Now it can be 30+ minutes! Ridiculous. And OMG after that wait, they CANCELLED the culture from the drop off. How much you bet they CHARGE $$ for that lost test. Useless! Another issue happened when my elderly family member got into the back when I ran out to get paperwork. Returned to a door slammed locked shut. He and the phlebotomist did one lab but didn't remember/know there were two. So he had to get poked 2x. I complained about the lack of receptionist and she said oh just knock (no sign says that's OK!). AND she said it's better without a receptionist and they plan to remove the windows and just make it all walls. So much for HUMAN customer care. Time for us to go elsewhere. There IS another lab right around the corner on Florence.

Sonora Quest Laboratories - Another blood draw. Simple. I've got good veins. No reason on earth for this except for incompetent phlebotomist.

Dr. Widener, the nurses, and the entire staff were exceptionally kind, attentive, and thorough. They identified an important complicating factor in my treatment just through thoughtful screening questions and actually reviewing them. The kind of attention to detail that's becoming rare, and it genuinely changed the course of my care for the better. What impressed me even more was that they provided this level of careful, patient-centered treatment while simultaneously managing another patient who appeared to have a very serious, time-critical emergency. Their ability to stay focused, calm, and compassionate with everyone involved speaks volumes about the quality of this team. I'm incredibly grateful for the care I received and the professionalism I witnessed. We are lucky to have this ER in our community.

I've been very positive about this organization until today…read more I thought it was wonderful that you could get triaged and assisted medically within minutes of arrival, versus what it's been like historically at the local hospital. And I told lots of people how great this was. However today was a somewhat different story . We were brought right in and I was hooked up to a monitor, saw a couple nurses and a doctor within a short time. However at one point, after I went to the restroom, (may I mention unattended?), no one ever came back to hook me up to the monitor, bring back the call button mechanism... It had vanished...or help me with the bed rails. It was as if I was a phantom. So for that period of time I saw NO medical personnel, while my husband had stepped away to get a bite to eat. Not good! THIS WAS ABOUT 45 MINUTES TO AN HOUR. WHAT!? Obviously I wasn't feeling well or I wouldn't have been there, so when they suggested I go on to an acute hospital where an MRI could be run sometime that day, I initially agreed, but then after waiting and waiting and waiting for them to come back to even hook up my monitor, for Pete's sake!, I decided I was going to go home instead. A CT had already been done, I felt that was enough for one day. A male nurse named Morgan, was very dismissive at this juncture, and when he came in to remove my IV, He left all the electrodes that were still stuck all over my chest, never even offering to remove them. I had to do it myself! He did a very poor job of leaving us with a good impression. He could have cared less. Dr Gilbert, who was my attending physician at Exceptional, was pretty much the same. In my opinion, he was lacking in bedside manner, also very slow to respond when asked to have dialogue with him about being discharged AMA, or against medical advice. Overall, to summarize, I would say that initially this organization did an outstanding job winning our favor as a wonderful alternative to going to dignity ER. However today, I would say my experience was lacking in multiple areas and not so great.

Heads up for folks to steer clear of this imaging company!…read more It's become more and more like a third world country experience to have scans done at Simon med! I went there at my practitioner's recommendation because she prefers the fact that they have radiologists who send over reports to her, and I understand that being very important. However, it's just not worth the hassle. I have had negative experiences with Simonmed more than once, but this time was the last time. A few days ago I went in for an appointment for an MRI of my chest and abdomen. No big deal, I've had tons of MRIS. But there was no way I could have anticipated what was in store for me. The radiology technician was pleasant. She kept suggesting that I cancel the test though, because she said the machine was so old that they were having difficulty getting good scans for the ordering practitioners. I have been deluged with many medical tests over the last 6 weeks and I was just weary, so i responded with: "I'm sure these tests will be adequate or you wouldn't be in business, right?" Well, that was probably wrong. The technician told me the MRI would be around 25 minutes. I went into the tube, but then some rather odd things began taking place. First, I was wrapped with a thick blanket around my chest area and then strapped in twice with belt like pieces of fabric or leather. Next came some kind of metal apparatus that was snapped over my chest with part of it extending up over my lower face. In addition, she began packing between my arms and the MRI tube with plastic foam pads, saying that the machine tends to get very warm and that would keep me cooler. Wow. I should have seen the red flags by this point, but I was pretty chill about it all, having had many scans that included mri's. But the "clincher" was when she was ready to begin and I was all packed in to the machine and she mentioned that there was no longer a working bulb to squeeze, if I wanted to stop the scan. But she reassured me that wasn't usually a problem for anyone because this was a short scan series. I thought well, I'll just kick my legs to let her know if I need out, but I'm thinking "what's the big deal; this is only 25 minutes." Wrong again. I noticed as the scan continued well beyond the 25 minutes, that I was getting excessively warm in the machine. I was beginning to really worry about what was happening. Finally at about 45 minutes I'd had all I could take and I started kicking my legs. Fortunately she saw me doing that and she said she'd like to get a few more because the scans were so poor quality, and I said no. Apparently the machine was quite antiquated and they were unable to keep the heat levels down inside the unit. I was the victim of all this, not to mention the inability to let her know via a regular squeeze bulb, that I was done with the heat & the discomfort. I spoke with another radiology technician this week over at Dignity Health at the hospital when I was going for some CT scans. The technician mentioned that the older MRIs run hot, don't have fans, are smaller in size, and of course don't provide very good images. Why does simonmed still have antiquated equipment? Is the antiquated equipment dangerous? And also, I believe that a patient should never be asked to go inside a machine that runs this hot and where the patient has no clear-cut way of letting the radiology technician know that they want to end the scan session. All of this was very unprofessional and a very very unpleasant experience for me, the patient! I shudder to think about some older people who go through these scans at Simon med, and don't speak up for themselves or get stuck in the machine like I did before it was too late to get out. I was packed in there like a sausage. I want to say that I am not claustrophobic and again, I've done many scans like this. But never have I experienced such a deplorable situation in a medical facility while having images scanned!

Today was amazing, since I already filled out forms online, the wait was real short. We walked in…read moreand there were lot of people in the waiting room.
