It is on the ocean so you can walk by the water and enjoy the view later. The Farmers Market is located in two parts so you cross the street to get to the rest of the market. This time I did try the loaded hash browns from a certain stand where I can't remember the name, but it was in the middle. They were amazing and probably the best hash browns I've ever had - crispy on the outside and hot on the inside. My son ended up eating the whole thing! Vermilli is a small booth that sells clothing and I always end up buying something from there. The woman who owns it has been there every time, and I love her designs. Such a great place to shop local and they always have someone playing music!

Even though there were plenty of tour buses dropping people off, the market still felt like it was mostly for locals. As a visitor, I could only wish I could take home the beautiful flowers, fresh fruits, and local produce being sold. I couldn't resist picking up a few mangosteens for the hotel room, even though I knew they couldn't come back to the mainland with me. I was also there to check out the food options -- and there were plenty. One stand was serving up sausage sandwiches that all looked great, so we split one to try. Then we spotted The Pig and the Lady booth offering Vietnamese favorites like pho, banh mi, and bún chả. I went with the bún chả, and it didn't disappoint. I've eaten at their restaurant before, and they definitely delivered here too. Overall, it's a fun local market with great food, friendly vendors, and an authentic island vibe -- a must-do Saturday stop if you're in Waikiki.

The restrooms in the lower area near the church are now locked and closed. You are encouraged to use the restrooms up the stairs on campus near the student center. The businesses are a mix of old and new. My biggest missed vendor is the Big Island Abalone one, one of the most popular ones for decades. The amount of fresh seafood sellers have dropped. My favorite now for that is the Feast stand that serves lobster rolls, half or whole. On my visit, I stopped and had my brunch at the Pig & the Lady stand. My friend, a 1st time visitor, bought empanadas for us to share. My friend enjoyed his cold brew and I bought some pickles for a local friend. There's a lot of staple businesses like Kukui Sausage and a nice vibe with a musician singing near the entrance. The staff at the information table and HPD staff are helpful in guiding visitors. Hopefully some of those old vendors and new ones will come and return respectively.

There was one prepared food vendor and one extra art vendor so not a whole lot to explore. There's a nearby playground where it's focused for the bigger kids since it's mostly climbing focused. The marketplace where this is located, if you aren't familiar, is filled with many stores that sell food and even have a Safeway grocery store. Parking was relatively easy on a Sunday since there's a big parking lot.

Love this Manoa Farmers' Market in Manoa Marketplace as I needed a break from errands and thought that a quick drive up Manoa would be it and after a some lunch and visit to Fendu Boulangerie for a breakfast bite tomorrow I noticed some tents in front of the post office area. With what seems to just four vendors two are selling vegetables all are pre priced and packed making it very easy to browse and shop, there was an art seller and lastly was for some flowers at $5 for a small bunch it was just right for the butsudan and I just loved the lavender shade of anthurium. No veggies for me today though there were some that I wanted but had more errands to run but know that they're here and is a quick and easy place to find some fresh produce and veggies along with supporting local. The second time, my boyfriend got produce from vendors bring home ingredients to make pico de gallo, and it was so fresh that a quart and a half disappeared in two days. BUT the main reason I'm writing this is for the gentleman that makes one of the TOP THREE pastas I've had IN HAWAII. First is probably Uni pasta (or something else pasta) from Arancino Kahala. Second is La Cucina. Third, but coming up very close is this random never would have suspected it farmer's market pasta. Carbonara and Amatriciana. Just get those. It's gonna take 30 minutes, even if you get there early. It's one guy making pasta from scratch, fresh, with noodles and sauces that he made from scratch. Just put your order in, go buy your veggies and bread, wander around to look at booths, then come back. My boyfriend hates waiting in line but he said he would wait an hour for this. We left some of it out and ate it five hours later and it was STILL delicious, even all cold. Even the best restaurant stuff you save isn't THIS good later on. I don't like that I spilled this secret spot, but I really hope he opens his own restaurant one day, if he wants to. I would eat his pasta and bread every day and enjoy every pound that I put on!

It's a very definitely small scale operation that takes up very little room and scores up many delightful fruits and fresh produce for your daily needs. It's not much of a theatrical production, as the larger farmer's markets in various spots around urban Honolulu and across Oahu, but there is some value associated here. It's your usual cadre of local residents that want to enjoy the fresh produce that comes with farmer's markets, but want to be within the reaches of Kaimuki town. The Kaimuki Open Market could be categorized as a small niche of people bartering and selling among themselves, but why do it in the public eye? Not sure about that, but I guess it's the way it is here and buying among friends and family is like that, along with passers by who are also looking for a great deal as well. The overall experience here was definitely pleasant, but weird at the same time. I'd come back here more, if the farmer's market either at Kapiolani Community College did not have the stuff I need. The Kaimuki Open Market is neatly tucked away in the side streets of Kaimuki town, located on 12th Avenue across the street from the First Hawaiian Bank - Kaimuki branch. They usually operate on Saturdays, Is use you where I see them. Not sure if the do this open market on the week days, but I will be surprised if they do. If they do, it will probably during normal working hours. Usually cash will be king here, since I do not believe they take credit cards at all. Luckily there is a major bank next door or across the street, namely First Hawaiian Bank and Bank of Hawaii. Parking can be plenty for all, if you use the municipal parking lot but you would have to pay money. There's always street parking nearby but there will be some walking involved to get here. Of course, there is no admission fee, so that's always a good thing. Sometimes I will see someone new in the neighborhood buying stuff from here and it's always gratifying to see familiar faces periodically on the weekends. While you won't find vendors that will cook up a tasting meal, you just find a small assortment of produce that is fresh and compatible with whatever you are cooking / preparing for the day or week. Take this opportunity to venture out in your comfort zone and come here, as the alternative to supermarkets, Costco, and other nearby localized farmer's markets in and around town. Since I do live nearby, I thought it would be a nice gesture to check things out here on a recent Saturday and hit up the Kapiolani Community College mega farmer's market later on. For me, it was the perfect opportunity to get what produce I needed for work and home, while being quite close to home really. I can shop here on the weekends and know that I can get the best price and deal for my hard-earned dollar, as well as seeking other deals for friends and family by shopping here. While Whole Foods and various supermarkets are are very much in the Vinicity, shopping here at the Kaimuki open market can be adventurous and be out of your comfort zone. There are 2 big parking lots (one is metered and one is gated) I would go to the gated one because it's free for less than 10 or 15mins but metered you need to put something in it. I used to limit my spending to $10 while shopping for dinner for my wife and I. There will be a lot of things I will miss in the future of Kekaulike Market. I stop by Chow's Seafood and Meat Market to buy Chinese fishcake which is one of the only stalls that sell it now. The stall. might not look like the most sterile place to shop but the fishcake is very good. The fishcake is a raw paste that you could use in any number of dishes. It sells for about $8 a pound but it stretches the budget and you get a lot of fishcake dumplings in one pound.

However, I did see items such as locally caught fish packed in ice, clean chicken feet in refrigerated cases, and tables full of colorful vegetables and fruits! The variety is overwhelming! There are many vendors inside of the air conditioned market and even more stalls right outside the market's doors - all along the wall! Just take your time and compare prices. Bring tote bags ...and cash for better bargaining power! Remember that metered street parking is free on Sundays and holidays. If you're early, you can get free parking on King Street. If not, the municipal parking lots have reasonable parking rates.
