I arrived late on a Sunday evening, about 30 minutes before closing, so I expected them to rush me through my dinner. They did not. The service was very good. Food came out pretty quickly, although my main dish took a few minutes longer than I expected, being that it was late and I figured they wanted me out in a reasonable time.
The food was certainly above average. I had the tomatoes with mozzarella as well as a mista salad. Both were fresh and good and served quickly.
For my main course I chose the house lasagna. It had a lightly-creamy red sauce which I prefer to the more acidic, traditional tomato sauce. The lasagna was very good, maybe just little too salty for my taste. But I enjoyed the last bite as much as the first.
I was the last in the restaurant as I finished my lasagne at 10:00. They again did not rush me although I asked for the bill as soon as I had finished my drink.
The ambience was nice, with linen tablecloths and candles. Quiet and pleasant, somewhat romantic with the roses and candle at each table. There were a few couples as well as a few tables of friends, so seems a general mix of customers. Would be nice for a date.
I would probably come here again, although Heidelberg has a lot of good options for dinner. If you're looking for good service and good Italian food that is priced about right, I would recommend La Vite. read more
