All were delicious although the anchovies were too much for my husband lol and I though I did my best, I barely dented that plate. They were really good with their bread and garlic aioli. Great spot, would have loved to have tried more.

It ended up being a great decision, because Pata Negra was amazing. The divey, eclectic bar-restaurant was packed to the brim and full of energy. I was by myself, of course, so I grabbed one of the few remaining spots at the bar after a warm welcome and escort from The owner. He chatted with me a bit and then told the bartender to take good care of me. I ordered some sangria and a few tapas (empanadas, bacon wrapped dates and lamb steak bites) and soaked everything in. I read some of the messages carved into the walls and woodwork throughout the kitschy joint and people-watched across the tables tightly lined against the window. The empanadas and dates were tasty but the beef was tough and lacked flavor. I've only had bacon-wrapped dates once (I'm not too adventurous with food), and they were delicious. So comparatively, these weren't as good. Honestly, if the food was just one step higher, I'd give the joint five stars. Everyone around me seemed to enjoy their food, though, and lots of people were ordering what looked like creme brûlée. I was too full to order dessert, though. The owner came by again later to sit and chat with me for awhile - and take a shot (yikes!). Even though I was new to Amsterdam and was exploring by myself, he made me feel right at home. I stayed for another sangria, but ended up leaving after only because I wanted to explore more of the city in my limited time there. I'd definitely recommend checking out this place.

He was welcoming and made some conversation. As a starter we had Plato variado de embutidos and vitello tonato, all sousage and dried ham. Very tasty. For main we had the paella, which was very tasty, but a bit fatty. For dessert i had the copa amaretto, which indeed tasted of amaretto and the missus had the grand dessert. All in all a very good experience and the price is right!

We ordered a series of tapas with a focus on meat and potato dishes. Every dish was declared phenomenal by all party members (including one low-carb and one gluten free eater) and the staff could not have been kinder. The waiter was always quick with a smile and the chef personally shook everyone's hands as we left. The absolute highlight, though, was the dessert. Every member ate two churros resting on a pillow of whipped cream, drizzled with strawberry sauce, sprinkled with powdered sugar, and stuffed full of warm, gooey chocolate. After eating one of the two, I shamelessly admit that I was tearing up because of the sheer quality of the food. I have never eaten a better churro and I doubt I ever will. Even better, my friend related this story to our waiter when he came by to collect our plates. He laughed for a moment, cleared the table, and returned less than five minutes later with two more beautiful churros on the house. He excused it by saying that they were leftovers, but they were both piping hot and clearly fresh. I was overwhelmed by his friendly nature and the wonderful dessert and found myself crying with happiness once more. I cannot recommend this place enough. I sincerely hope that more people visit and that each one of them tastes the churros.
