True Puerto Rican cooking. I ordered some rice and pigeon peas (gandules) with the pork belly, some alcapurrias ( fried plantain fritters stuffed with meat) and a side order of carne frita ( fried cube sliced pieces of pork) with a malta ( non alcoholic Puerto Rican drink made with barley and sugar). Amazing!! The service was fast and staff was very friendly. The place came highly recommended on numerous social media platforms and didn't disappoint. The music in the background was perfect as it added to the overall ambiance. Great local authentic spot that not only caters to locals but welcomes tourists. They have a bar also. Right on the side of the main road right off the highway. Everyone seemed to be having a good time eating, chilling and living the good life. It is run by two sisters, one is the cook and the food is delicious - tapas inspired locally sourced ingredients, and yummy rolls and cookies. The other runs the bar, where she serves up very original drinks (I heard something about a Puerto Rican star mixologist being involved) but also a selection of local microbrews. Great energy and an authentic experience - service with a smile. Went for the music, left with a highlight of my trip. If you can get there, don't miss it!
