For Harvard this Mexican place is okay, but in most other towns it would be mediocre most likely. It has a pretty authentic menu. La Trinidad is among the surprisingly many authentic Mexican places in town. How are there so many, who knows. This one had been known for bad service, but the food is capable of being good for the most part. Came at lunch and the place was empty. It should have been a sign. The inside is quite roomy and it all looked pretty clean though. Eventually another group came in. It's about $7 for a margarita. These come in a few flavors, including the lime, mango, and strawberry. Kind of weak for the price. The food turned out mostly okay for what it was. It's about $11 for the Vegetariano Burrito. This was filled with beans, cheese which I left off, lettuce, rice, and tomatoes. Good isn't quite the way to describe it, but it may be as good as it gets in this town because options are limited. It has a pretty big menu. There's of course the margaritas, and the burritos include one for vegetarians. read more

Best damn food at an incredible price. We had the burrito dinner and it was so good and very filling. Also enjoyed a strawberry margarita...service was super quick and the staff friendly. If you live Mexican food make sure to give this place a try...you won't regret it! read more

The aqua de limón was decent as well as the beans and rice, but the tacos lacked flavor, even with the different salsas there. Also I waited about 25 minutes for it on an empty evening which kinda surprised me. read more

Not consistent. Could be better. Other times it was very good. However, it is very clean. I will try again.

It's just ok nothing memorable at all. I order tacos they were ok, meat could use more seasoning maybe cabbage or something.

Great food, great drinks, great service. Clean, nice atmosphere, just an all around great Mexican restaurant. read more

They've come a long way. I went here 12 years ago and the service was SLOW. Food is excellent and service is great!

Very good place to eat. Always has pesoli soup green is my favorite and boy it was good large pieces of chicken and not an over abundance of hominy read more

La Trinidad Restaurant - a table full of mexican food - Mexican Near Me - Harvard, Illinois

This restaurant is simply awful. Only 2 tables occupied and they sat a person who sounded like he had Covid next to us. The drinks were weak, the service was fair at best, and the food was terrible. It was poor quality and overcooked. The salsa had to be returned because it had a hair in it. The only redeeming quality was the refried beans, they were quite good. All in all, avoid if at all possible. read more

Ordered food on phone. They didn't even put my son's meal down or charge for it. I got taco dinner deluxe. They added onions. It's not even on the menu. The tacos were super dry and fell apart. The nachos with beans and cheese in Styrofoam was melted through and had holes in it. I'm guessing they microwaved it because the Styrofoam was all curvy and couldn't be closed, holes in it and fuzzy. The beans on the nachos were dried out. The green sauce had red pepper flakes in it. Never going there again. Wish I had a picture of the disgusting mess. No limes either. read more

Chips was stale and cold. I felt way over priced on 2 plates, 2 beers, and 2 cans of coke. Because the menu (even tho is high price) I did the number and it was like $30 some odd dollars. Some how needed up leaving with a bill of almost $50.... Like no matter how much I looked at the menu. The numbers didn't add up one bit. Not like there was maybe 2 other people in the whole joint so I don't see how that mistake happen... The foods not that we'll season compared to your other average joe Americanized "Mexican Cuisine." The salsa was terrible on all sides.... I mean I hate to be this means but I have no idea how they are open.... I just don't. Like everything here is just terrible the lighting was, the floor was dusty. The tables haven't been cleaned with a rag cause you can feel old chips when you run your arms across it. The chips are cold and stale which I don't even know why when it doesn't take long to fry them up fresh. They are made real densely. Salsa was bland. Drinks are over price especially since for a coke alone your buying by the can. The food is bare minimum expectations.... Sorry to say this but this is just the sad truth for me. It just seems like the owners don't take pride in their place. read more

I have eaten there twice and the food is great! I've had the fajitas and the grilled fish, both dishes very good! The beer is ice cold too! Very nice staff, no mask required!! read more

Almost drove right past this hidden gem. Ordered some tortas that came out quick and fresh. Everything tasted so good that I had to order again a few days later. read more

This place is a hidden gem, the reviews don't do it justice, best steak nachos ever! They must have changed a lot since those other reviews were left. read more

Buyer Beware! I asked for two eggs over easy on top of two tortilllas(one egg on each tortilla) smothered in green salsa The cook told our waitress he couldn't do that because he didn't know how and it was not on the menu. Fair enough so I asked for two eggs over easyThe cook BURNED my eggs! I refused them. I asked for chori queso- on the menu- it was so greasy and under cooked with little or no cheese. After my family got their food my Sopa Azteca came to the table 20 minutes later and it was like warm and more of a cheese fondu! This place sucks! Margarita was too sweet and michelada was not good. Daughters scrambled eggs were under cooked. Cooks are very incompetent. Go somewhere else save yourself the frustration. Este lugar no vale la pena. Los cocineros son rudos y no saben cocinar read more

Chips and salsa were fresh. Fajitas and burritos were huge. Food was served piping hot.

Supposedly this place butchers their own meat & what not, so it was recommended on my trip out this way. Came in road weary & hungry. Ordered food in the restaurant. Twice they came up to us after we ordered and asked, "Is everything OK?" Yeah, its fine, we have nothing, we have no food no water, what can we complain about? Stop interrupting and asking how things are, and bring my food! Then the food, which took a REAALLY long time, so I was famished. They brought out one order of enchiladas, even though we ordered an identical dish. So one came out then, 3 minutes later the 2 dishes came out, Bizarre. Then we bit into the food, I mean they did, I inhaled over half of the enchiladas because I was starving. The greens were bitter, rice was bland and beans were out of a can. We ordered ribeye enchiladas, they were ground beef . Thats smart, charge us for the expensive meat and slip in the cheap crap. Annoyed, we stopped eating and ordered 4 ribeye tacos. These were OK, the mole on the enchiladas was good. We got gaucamole and this was bad. Really weak and overpriced. The waitress only took off one wrong orders off the bill, instead of arguing, I just left and will never come back. read more

Food was pretty good but service was slow. We cleaned off our own table so we could seat our child at a booth quickly and they overcharged me on my bill by adding an extra steak burrito which we didn't order or receive. Watch out-check your bill! We won't be back. read more

Consistently good quality food. I particularly like their chicken enchiladas in mole sauce, but their chimichanga & burritos are very good too. Fajitas are quite tasty too. Service could be a bit better, but it's not terrible. read more

My favorite Mexican food, anywhere. Better than the food I usually get when I go to Mexico. Not much atmosphere, but the food is what is important here. The burritos are amazing, and they will stuff anything in a burrito for you. My typical order at a mexican place is Chile Rellano (stuffed Pablano pepper). They offer the chili rellano stuffed in a burrito, crazy. Their Tortas are great too. Everybody that I take there says they love what they had. Again, atmosphere is a 1 out of 5, the food is for sure 5/5... read more

Horrible. If I could give zero stars, I would. Server was clearly new but unattentative, none the less. Never asked if we needed more drinks, etc. After we ordered, we waited 55 mins for a burrito and chicken fajitas. Had to ask servers for silverware AFTER the food arrived. Was hoping for the food to at least TASTE good since it took so flipping long to get it. No. My fajitas were very dry and salty. My boyfriend bit into someting in his burrito and cut his gum! Told the server who replied, "oh. Sorry." And walked away!!! At that point were done. Left without eating another bite. Run the other way. read more

This past Saturday after spending the previous 30 hours or so in bed ill my appetite made a sudden comeback. I had to return a couple movies and was gonna grab a quick sub at Jarrets favorite place. As I drove "skirt steak" popped in my head. So I went to La Trinidad. The previous few times I went there I thought the food was above average (could be the margaritas). This time there though. The food was absolutely AWFUL. Their idea of skirt steak and mine are two totally things. Juicy tasteful succulent, my idea. Theirs, paper thin dry tasteless not worthy of dog food. The server asked me how i wanted it prepared, to which I replied medium rare. This steak was so thin (imagine a philly cheesteak) medium rare is nearly impossible. I was still feeling pretty ill at the time I wasn't in the mood to even send back, shame on me. However with the multitude of Mexican restaurants and taquerias around this place gladly goes off my list. I have had better meals at Taco Bell. Oh, and the service? HORRIBLE. And the Margaritas are mediocre at best read more

40 min to make 5, mediocre at best, tacos. Slices of cheese on enchiladas. Margaritas are decent but not $5 decent. Pleasant service. Typically clean dining area. Recommend going during slow hours. read more

Great chili relleno burritos. Margaritas are kind of lame though. Place is nice, but totally looks like it used to be an italian restaurant.

Ok so I have ordered take out from this place a lot, it's across the street from my home. They are always missing components to the meals I order. Being that I am Mexican I always have tortillas at home or saltine crackers for when I order shrimp cocktail. But I'm done the woman that takes orders over the phone has an attitude. And argued with me today because I ordered a pambaso and she told me I didn't I told her twice! She was not letting up either all she had to do was put her pride aside and say she would have it made so I could pay for it and pick it up. read more

Should have listened to the reviews... staff is rude... they mess up orders. Was going to go to the other taco place in town but it was close so I figured I'd settle and go here worst mistake ever!!! Would not recommend them to anybody. Also they wrap the tacos in tinfoil instead of putting them into a container. Thought that that was very unprofessional of them. They are also very overpriced for very low-quality tacos. read more
