Wonderful place to pause for a mid-day lunch. I tend to find restaurants outside the US with English menus are often very substandard, but this place was well located in one of the famous plazas in town, had wonderful ambiance, great food and a nice variety, and really tasty 2-1 Aperol Soritz's. The bill for the 4 of us was c. $90 including 2 beers and 6 cocktails plus a lovely complimentary appetizer of home backed bread with oil and pesto. Recommend. Would come back!

We were staying in a local Airbnb right behind Parque Santa Lucia. Our host shared a list of local bars and restaurants that are some of his favorites, so La Tratto was already on our radar. We had drinks in the park a few nights and saw huge promo signs showcasing a Paquette Premium for $295 including an appetizer, main course and dessert. At about $15 US it looked like a pretty good deal. The outside area is well separated from the park by a hedge wall and the tables are spaced out nicely. As expected we had our temperature taken, were offered hand sanitizer and all staff had on masks and face shields. Our server, Antonio, could not have been nicer or more helpful. With our minimal Spanish he gladly assisted with very good English. We started with cocktails while we looked at the list of items included in the promotion. My husband had a Margarita on the Rocks ($80) and I had a glass of their house Trotter Cabernet ($180). The Margarita was good, and while the red wine was nice it wasn't a full bodied as I would have expected. The promo offered a about six or seven each, appetizers and entrees with Tiramisu for dessert. My husband chose the Caesar Salad for his first course, as it was listed as an 'ensaladita" we expected a fairly small side salad and were really surprised by the size. Additionally, the dressing was excellent. I ordered the Beef Carpaccio, again a surprisingly large portion, as the menu price for the regular size portion was nearly the cost of the entire combination. The Beef was shaved paper thin, with a nice balance of fat and lean. It was topped with a drizzle of truffle oil that was not at all overpowering, Spiced Pepper Slices, shaved Parmesan Cheese and drops of a Garlicy Aioli. I would absolutely order it again, one of the most flavorful carpaccio dishes I've had and well balanced. They also brought us some warm, freshly baked bread, almost pita like, served with a Chimichurri type dipping sauce. For his entrée my husband went with the Fettuccini Tuscany with Chicken, one of our Airbnb hosts recommendations. The dish included a nice portion of Chicken in a Lemon, Garlic Cream Sauce with Spinach. Again, a good portion and packed with flavor. I opted for the Mediterranean Scampi. The dish was made with Black Spaghetti, a Lemon Beurre Blanc Sauce, fresh Tomato, Broccoli and had about eight nice sized Shrimp. Great flavor, great texture and way more food than I expected. The Tiramisu was unfortunately the weakest dish, not horrible by any means, just not WOW. It was dense and creamy but needed more of that coffee flavor that Tiramisu should have. Overall, La Tratto has a wonderful location, the staff was wonderful, the food was delicious and for the price the Paquette Premium at $295 was a winner! Definitely someplace we would go back to again. Two notes at the risk of stating the obvious - the $ in Mexico denotes Pesos. So, don't be alarmed if you've been to more touristy areas in Mexico where prices are in US dollars. At the time of dining, our costs in US dollars were: Margarita = $80 pesos or about $4.00 US Trotter Cabernet = $180 pesos or about $9.00 US

Bread with olive oil dipping sauce

Went here for Sunday dinner. Place was crowded so we had a wait at the bar. Our table was ready in about 20 minutes. We were hungry so we ordered right away. I got the linguini with a mushroom oil sauce, and others got the chicken Marsala and the chicken with a creamy parmigiana sauce. The linguini was really good with a lot of flavor, the chicken in creamy parmigiana sauce was good. The chicken Marsala did not have a lot of Marsala flavor. My wife even asked for more sauce which did not help. Live eating in this park and the surroundings.

Great food, service and environment! Pizzas, fresh Pasta and Piñas coladas are amazing!

Great place for lunch. Stopped in randomly for an afternoon bite. Shared a Caesar salad with my girlfriend - great dressing and juicy chicken. They also brought out some complimentary flatbread with some fantastic olive oil. We shared the margarita pizza as our plata fuerte and added a little arugula - and it was phenomenal. With a half bottle of wine and all that it came out for $15 a person. Not too shabby for the quality and the change of pace.

Great place to go to get a nice meal in Merida. La Tratto does a great job of offering traditional Italian cuisine but with a nice Mexican twist to it, so you don't feel like you're getting food you could eat anywhere. The location is also beautiful, with a great view of Parque Santa Lucia. Would definitely recommend!

This is a hard call. The food is fine and price is acceptable but it just lacks a little kick in the food. This is like a fake Italian place in the U.S. trying to be a high end restaurant. The decor is high end but the food doesn't match quite well. First we had the black seafood spaghetti and my husband had the all cheese pasta. I thought mine was good but the cream was lacking some taste. My husband's pasta was too cheesy and he didn't think it was that good. Another time we had the caprese salad and the mozzarella was disappointing and the tomatoes looked good without much flavor. The spaghetti with pine nuts was good but the vegetables in it tasted a little cold and lacked the fresh flavor. Overall I like the place ok but it's no comparison with Oliva. Here is the issue. With Oliva around all other Italian restaurants are just not good enough. However, this place is located more central and spacey with nice courtyard feel. It's a nice place for a date night I guess.

A quarter liter of wine? You kidding me?
Patrick S.

Insultingly small portions of wine. My "glass" of wine was literally the smallest glass I have ever been served. I complained and was told no, that's a full glass So then I ordered a "quartino" of wine (which literally means a quarter liter) and it was less than I would get in a single glass normally. (see photo: that's the full, untouched portion). Hate to bitch, but 225 pesos (over US$11) for a Mexican red that was barely passable? Fail. When I politely complained in Spanish to the manager I was told I was just wrong, that's a full quartino, measured. Umm, no. It isn't. It's not not even close. You are just ripping us off.

The food and service were exceptional. Food was delicious and substantial. Tuna tartare is big enough for 4 people.

The food is excellent, but the service is not quite as good as La Recova, which is in the same plaza.

Our first visit was months ago and now that we are back in Merida we made Rosa Sur 32 a priority to visit. I won't begin to explain the menu, it is too diverse. But trust my word, whatever you order will be well worth the visit. Great service and comfort await you!

Though inside seating is limited they have a number of tables outside so on a cool night its beautiful. We ordered light, getting only the house salad of the day and fish tacos. We were pleasantly surprised when they brought us complimentary bread with a chilled zuchinni garlic puree, think like a thick zuchinni gazpacho but it actually tastes good. Very refreshing on a warm evening. The house salad was anything but mundane, coming with mixed greens, cubed cucumber, cubed apple, cubed celery, and sliced kiwi. It was fantastic and the portion was generous. We also ordered fish tacos and these come as a pair. The breading was light and crispy, slightly oily in a good way, and served piping hot! Also just a pleasure to eat here! If we were to move here, we will be coming back for sure! Happy eating adventures ahead to you and thanks for reading! -John Sito

Unfortunately we had an early flight, so we woke up at 04:00 and the night staff had prepared for us a beautiful breakfast, light because it was early but he said he didn't want us to go hungry to the airport. As we departed the staff said goodbye and that anytime we are in Merida consider this place our home. I have never experienced such exceptional service and kindness as we did here. Gracias mi amigos
