I had breakfast here with friends a few days ago. First, the restaurant is beautiful, classy, roofed but open in the front (no worries, Guadalajara has wonderful weather), you're greeted by a gorgeous old carriage, and by staff dressed in traditional charro attire. The menu is extensive, offering a variety of chilaquiles and many other entrees. There are red, green, mole, poblano, and other kinds of chilaquiles from which to choose. I had some with egg, and extra grated cheese and loved it. The ambience is casual but nice. You could go dressed up or casual and fit in. I would have taken more pictures, but I didn't want to be rude to my hosts who invited me. If you like Mexican food and chilaquiles, if you are ever in Guadalajara you need to ensure Los Chilaquiles is on your list of places to go. The service we experienced was first rate. They are located on Avenida Patria in between the Andares Shopping Center and the Plaza Universitaria. There is valet parking.

They close at 2 PM. While there is limited parking, it is worth coming to even if you have to walk a ways. They have a great selection of all the traditional Mexican and American style breakfast and brunch foods. There is something for everybody from decadent waffles, crêpes and hotcakes, to healthier choices like eggs however you want them, omelettes, chilaquiles, fruit, breads, juices, etc. There are some vegetarian and even vegan options. The atmosphere was very nice. You can choose to dine outside or inside. It can get a little loud as this place is quite popular. Our server was very attentive and friendly. My food was delicious, and everyone else at my table seemed very happy and satisfied. They have American style coffee, a medium roast, and they offered to bring liquid cream to the table. (Otherwise they have powdered coffee mate). Everything was very clean and pleasant including the bathrooms. If given the chance I would definitely return. I really enjoyed it and believe you will too.

Service was attentive, place is spotless, jazz music playing...really an upscale Denny's that needs to try it's own food once in awhile to see what is hitting customers plates. Prices would have been fine if my breakfast had been edible. p.s. I too had a coffee cup with crack all the way through it....didn't leak but it makes one nervous too early in the morning. p.p.s. What is with the taking names at the front counter before being seated? Seems overkill for a breakfast spot. Too much to think about before first cracked cup of coffee.

Guadalajara is famous for tortas ahogadas. This place is probably the best in the city. A torta…read moreahogada is a sandwich that is drowned with sauce. It has chopped pork and refried beans inside of it. Its definetly unique and something you must try when in GDL. We ubered there at about 10am. When we arrived we were seated at one of the small table. This place is pretty much a food cart with some tarps that you sit under. Don't let the looks of it stop you from coming here. I ordered a torta ahogada and 2 tacos dorados and an horchata to drink. The food came out quickly. I got my tortas half hot sauce and half regular. They also have cups of both sauces on the tables incase you want more. They also have raw onions to add to your sandwich. Now this is a messy sandwich but you just need to say F it and dive right in. The combination of the flavors is delightful. And the birote bread they use has a nice crisp that holds up to the sauce drowning it. Absolute deliciousness! Now their spicy sauce is pretty hot. I was buying but loving every minute of it. The tacos dorados are crispy fried up tacos that were stuffed with potato. You can order the pork on top of the tacos and I highly recommend you do so. They drown the tacos with the same sauce too. They were very good. 1 torta plus 4 tacos and 2 drinks was about $13 american. Super cheap and super delicious. Everyone working was very nice and helpful. Once we finished we walked to the Centro which is only about a 15 minute walk. If you only have 1 torta ahogada this is the spot to come to. All the famous youtube foodies come here. This place has been here for like 50 years and there is a reason for it! I just got back to the states and thinking back on this place is making me hungry.
