The food ordering was a little cafeteria style. You order and walk down the like and you let the next person know what you just ordered. They ask again what you want and they make it for you, then you keep walking and add the salsas you want on to your plate. You sit, and take the receipt to the other counter to get your drink. The service was like a 2, they rush you to order and don't really seem to care if you know what you are ordering, just kind of 'NEXT' -- attitude. This was my first time going to Guadalajara and wanted to taste the food they are known for which torta aogada was one of them. As soon as we arrived to the hotel, this is what our bell boy recommended. It was walking distance from where we stayed at. Authentic-- I don't think so since it is a franchise I later discovered, but a good idea of what might taste like. Food - 4 stars. tasty, and different. I have never had a torta ahogada and my cousin brought me here, I was expecting the old school torta in a bag that I had seen on tv before. This place does it differently from what I understand, now that doesn't mean it's bad. It's actually really great! I like the set up, you get to choose you're own torta filling and also how much sauce you want on it to get it nice and soggy! I went medium amount of sauce which that may be heavy for you but I wanted that soggy feel to it and it paid off big for me, flavor was intense and gripping! Every bite made me want another one! I was in town for work and was told I had to try an original torta ahogada. After doing a bit of research, this seemed to be one of the most popular places. Unfortunately by the time we made it, they were out of a few things as they close at 4:00PM. I ended up having the torta with carne asada. It can be a bit confusing inside if you don't speak Spanish, while you pay at the counter - you take your ticket to a different counter and give it to the workers who will make your torta. There's then a self serve bar where you can cover it in sauce - beware of the spicy! In the end the torta was okay, but I wasn't blown away by the experience. Amazing tortas ahogadas! These are real tapatio food, and the variety makes it a great choice for everyone, they also have Tacos dorados for vegetarians and all kinds of audiences (having them without meat is a sin I believe, but it's just a personal perspective). they serve ahogadas with pork or shrimp, full or half size, spicy (very) or mild sauce... they have it all in terms of flavor, offer and authenticity. Now... logistics, the work flow is set in a weird way, feels like you're in a Kermesse or County fair, you have to pay in advance and then you'll get tickets or vouchers that you'll need to exchange for the food and drinks you just purchased. you'll find yourself walking from booth to booth gathering your meal in pieces to end up sitting at some not very group friendly communal stool bar. The BEST tortas Agoda's in GDL!!! They serve a lot of lean tasty meats. The bread is crispy on the outside and tender inside. It has the texture of sourdough without the sour taste. The salsas are perfectly spiced. All the condiments are fresh. The collaboration of ingredients is a explosion of taste on your palette. Too bad this is one of GDL's secrets. You can only get them here. They say it's the way the water calcifies that the bread gets its taste. They send 18 wheelers daily to D.F. so they can have them there. Tortas Toño is a clean, nice place to eat some of the more popular and typical tortas ahogadas and tacos. This is a meal only known in Guadalajara. Although there are many street carts and restaurants that offer these this is a place I would recommend that doesn't involve Salmonella or H. Hystolitica. The meats are great, service is self serve but the cashiers are good, area is clean and not shady or shaky as in food poisoning risks. Just nice to see a place that continues to deliver after more than 10 years since I was first here as a med student. Bring cash, there are no cards accepted at this place. Close to ICB the UAG's school of medicine so expect to see a lot of aspiring white dressed medical students. Salsas and chile are great if you can handle spicy food. Has some shrimp and other torta alternatives now. The neighborhood is nice and seems safe. Good place to eat. read more

These are definitely the best in Guadalajara, they are tasty and cheap. Their service is very efficient, no wonder they are always full. Try the horchata and strawberry water, you won't find another one like it, it's a must. read more
