Went for lunch yesterday. Luckily we had made a reservation for the upstairs terrace. Was a beautiful setting for lunch. Completely shaded.
It's a fixed menu with not a lot of choices but what we did have was great.
Started with the mussel salad. A large number of mussels on top of a red pepper aioli, topped with a couple of pickled carrots. It was delicious.
Also started with the goat cheese salad, which was a tart, covered in a sundried tomato pesto and topped with goat cheese all baked. Had a side of tasty greens. I found this a little dry. If not for the greens, it would have been a complete disappointment.
Next came cod covered in green and yellow string beans. With some kind of delicious butter sauce. Which was great but it was missing a carb. Would have been perfect to have a couple of roasted fingerlings on the side. Was strange to just have cod and green beans.
Dessert was crème brûlée. Good, not great, but good. I'm not a fan of overpowering lavender taste (I think that's what it was)
The bottle of l'angele rose was crisp and cold. Just what we needed.
Service was ok once we got her attention. But slow. I'm talking painfully slow.
I'm sure we'll be back if only for the venue. read more
