Here we go. The review I never thought I'd write. The review for the best restaurant I've ever…read moreeaten at in my life. My father bought a house in France almost ten years ago. He was inspired, in part, by Peter Mayle who wrote A Year In Provence. In among his many books, he mentions Auberge de la Mole as one of the places he loves. Therefore, my dad insisted on taking us. I couldn't believe that La Mole is a one stoplight town, almost impossible to find in Provence. I also couldn't believe how easy and quick it was to get seated here on a warm summer night during tourist season. The restaurant itself is completely unassuming. From the outside, it looks no different than a big brasserie. The chairs are plastic patio chairs. The awning is a tacky blue and there's a gas pump just outside of the restaurant because it used to be a filling station. However, to say this place is incredible would be an understatement. To say it isn't as close to perfect as a restaurant could get would also be wrong. Auberge de la Mole excels on every level. It's a family-run restaurant. It's an auberge (in this case, similar to an inn). The waitstaff, the cooks, the barmen are all members of the same family. They were extremely kind and the service was excellent. The way this meal works It's a feast. You only choose two dishes, the starter, and the main course. The rest of the courses are a wide assortment of different dishes that you can pick or choose from. The cheeses, the breads, the pates/foies, the desserts are all brought out in huge trays from which you can pick and eat your fill for as long as you'd like. The main dishes were of course to die for. They are all incredible and it is a feast fit for a king. The ingredients are fresh off the farm, the dishes are perfectly cooked, every bite melts away in your mouth and you find yourself unable to stop eating. You sit there for hours and you eat. It's not a dinner, it's a comprehensive dining experience. Moderation is key at this place. Because it is essentially set up as all you can eat, you need to practice self-control. You've never had better food in your entire life, so it's tough not to want to eat as much of everything as possible. However, not having known how much food there would be, we ate too much too early. But this was a lesson learned. I can't wait to go back with some friends this summer, and once again eat the most incredible meal of my life. Note: It is cash-only, so come prepared.

The best place for original Provençal cuisine!!!!! It is a nice restaurant not far from St. Tropez…read more You can sit at the lovely terrace or inside. The service is outstanding - of course!! We had a lot of great evenings there. The first course 5 different pastry with mixed pickles and delicious roasted bread. For the second course you have the choice between 4 or 5 dishes. My favourite are definitely the frogs' leg's. The main course will be served with a wonderful potato bake. You have again the choice between beef ( Filet natural or with perigord truffle) and canard. I always take the beef perigord - it is the best filet I've ever eat!! Great!! Now the cheeseboard follows - only one thing to say: YUMMY!!! The appletarte with vanilla ice cream is just as great as all the other courses. But than follows the dessert : Mousse au chocolat, crème caramel, pears in red wine and plums in red wine!!! Delicious!!!! You will be addicted! You want to come back as soon as possible!!

My husband and I fell in love with Chez Anna and Jo. Anna and Jo are a charming, gracious couple…read moreand Anna is a wonderful cook. We had dinner there twice and not because there aren't plenty of good options in Hyères. The first time, I had perfectly prepared and seasoned canneloni. I had stopped eating ravioli in restaurants years ago because I invariably found the pasta tasteless and doughy and the filling unable to compete with that. But because our first dinner was so delicious, I decided to give ravioli another try the second night and it was delightfully light, perfectly al dante, with a filling that was complemented by the pasta, not smothered by it. My husband's daube, a Provençal braised beef with a little bit of gravy and carrots over pasta, was sublime. It had the delicious strong presence of herbes d'Provence that is typical in the region. He ate that dish at both of our dinners there. But it's not just the food that is perfect. Jo, the host and server, is kind and gentle and pays attention to his guests and to detail. Anna, who came out of the kitchen both times we were there, possibly because we were the last diners of the evening, is also kind and gracious. We were with our toddler and, without being asked, Jo brought out cushions so she could sit higher in the chair. When I expressed concern about her possibly spilling food (tomato sauce, in particular) on the cushion, Jo quickly told me not to worry about it. And, on top of all that, the interior walls of the restaurant are covered with Jo's beautiful paintings (which, unfortunately for us, are not for sale). We highly recommend Chez Anna and Jo and look forward to returning!

I came here solely on the strength of a couple of Yelp reviews. These are not always reliable - but…read morein this case appear to be spot on! I came for an early lunch in a sunny for me Saturday and walked in soon after noon - and was the first lunch customer. The waiter / owner spoke just enough English and I just enough French for me to choose a smoked duck cake for my starter. I had that with a glass of white wine. Both to die for. I ordered a casserole with Strasbourg sausage and mushrooms for my main course and asked the waiter to recommend an appropriate glass of wine. He brought a glass from the same winery - again sensational. The owner told me he loves running a small place where he can make people happy because he can ensure every meal is excellent. It works for me!

Le Petit Flore serves a good lunch with passion and warmth. Here there is a completely…read moredown-to-earth atmosphere and a no-nonsense attitude to the food, wine and service. It was certainly difficult not to feel welcome here with the enthusiasm and the witty treatment we got. The menu changes constantly and there is therefore only options you'll see on the board, if you can decipher it. With a limited knowledge of French and not the best ability to decipher swirly French handwriting on a blackboard, I was happy that we got the short version explained in English. We had starters and cannelloni for our main course and a glass of white wine. The portion of cannelloni was rather big (by our lunch standards), so we had to give up at some point, but it was not for the lack of trying our best. The food was good, but could have done well with a bit more oomph in the taste, though I was very satisfied with my wine.
