The absolute best tacos I have ever had. I typically get the Al Pastor, Adobada, Carnitas, or Cochinita Pibil. Everything is super fresh, the people behind the counter are really nice, and the price for what you get is much less expensive than other places nearby. 4.5 star This place serves unique & very tasty Mexican food! You can watch them make fresh tortillas. I usually order the carne asada quesadillas. The quesadillas are small but they only cost 2.25. They are very much worth trying. I've tried other tacos/mulitas such as the birria & the pastor- also delicious. If you like good Mexican food, this little restaurant is worth trying if you haven't. The quality of this place has gone down over the years. My husband ordered adobada tacos and I ordered birria tacos. His adobada tacos did not taste like adobada at all if anything they tasted and looked exactly like my birria tacos. My go to spot for Mexican food! Fresh tortillas made in front of you & their sauces are made in house. They are quick so I never have to worry about ordering in ahead of time. I have never waited more than 10 minutes for my food. My favorite is their breakfast burrito. Delicious local authentic Mexican tacos! It's deep in Vista in a plaza that reminded me that I was in da hood... Well for the name of tacos, we came here to check it out! You know it's a true Mexican joint when you walked in feeling weird because you're the only non-Mexican in the entire restaurant with at least 20 other people haha! Ok we came to the right place! I'm always happy to find lengua and cabeza on the menu, so I ordered those. They also have menudo soups but only on Saturdays and Sunday. We also tried the carne asana, pollo, carnitas and al pastor. They all tasted good but I still liked my lengua and cabeza the most! Their meats were all freshly grilled and cooked. It's fun to watch them cook in the open kitchen. Don't bother trying their fish taco. The batter was soggy... Why did I even order that!? Save the fish tacos for the mariscos. I want to really give this place a 4 star rating but elected to go all the way with a 5 for a couple of reasons. One, some folks rated it one star because it wasn't open or that the restaurant ran out of a particular product. Two, because I'm more than just a "fan" as Yelp 4 star rating would suggest. In a nutshell, this place has the same virtues as the Escondido location e.g., salsa bar fresh ingredients and friendly service. Here, we sampled the following tacos: Cochinita pibil Pastor Buche Cachete Pollo All were very good to excellent. Cachete was described as beef cheek, but i thought that was called cabeza, which was listed as a choice as well. It was excellent, along with a slow marinated wet pork called Cochinita pibil. The buche was nicely chopped and cooked very well. To my great surprise, the pollo taco was fantastic. Marinated to perfection, it was very very tender and flavorful..Pastor tasted good, slightly sweet, but not fresh off of the spit. As noted from the owner, all their meats are fresh. There are no freezers in the restaurant. As mentioned, the tortillas were as fresh as they can be and the salsas were all above standard. The green tomatillo salsa is probably the best of the group. They do make a hotter jalapeno based green that was actually hot for me. Cheers for that! This is a smaller establishment than the Escondido location so seating could become limited during peak lunch hours. Prices start $1.60 per taco and with an expensive city of Vista tax comes to $1.74. Definitely recommend this place if you are in the mood for TJ style tacos and are in the area. Great tacos, great selection and good salsas Update 6.2014 Had a Cachete Burrito. Amazing. So I was looking for a taco place that makes handmade tortillas fresh, which they do. But they were a little hard still. The lady at the counter looked like she did not like her job. Nobody greeted us when we came in and I looked kind of like we were bothering them with our order. Which was pretty simple we just got tacos. Also, nothing comes on your taco it's just the meat and tortilla. They have a condiment bar but the guacamole is watered down. The meat was kind of seasoned okay. I was a little disappointed. People say that this place has the best tacos in North county San Diego, I disagree. The best tacos in North county are at TJ Tacos in Escondido. I will drive 20 minutes just to eat tacos there, like I said I was looking for a similar place in Vista where I live but I still haven't found anything close to TJ Tacos. However my true interest lies in the awesome ice cream place a few doors down, Angelito's Fruteria y Neveria. By the way, I am a bit biased. I am from LA, where there were street taco vendors cooking in front of gas stations, markets, and even houses. Tacos were in 2 tortillas each and wrapped in foil for like a buck. My fiancé loves coming here for tacos. He has tried many of their different variety tacos but our recent visit he got birria and fish and he loved it. For me it's either going to be good or just ehh okay. I like to get the chicken, sometimes it taste good and sometimes it's flavorless. I also like to get asada, again sometimes it's good and sometimes it's dry. The good thing about this place is their tortillas are hand made. Also you have other options besides tacos, you can get a burrito, quesadilla, or nachos. We have been on the hunt for street tacos/tj tacos down here. Came across this place on yelp and they looked good. Stopped in order a few tacos here are the results. Price. Awesome we got tons of tacos at a more then fair price. Carnitas was ok, definitely not a come back to eat this taco again. Little flavor in the carnitas. Chicken tacos were good, high up on our list of street tacos as far as chicken tacos go. The chicken had tons of flavor and u had some cilantro and red sauce delicous. I would come back for these if I felt like driving. Steak/Asada tacos... personally this was my favorite. I loved the fact I had no fat no gristle on the meat. I dislike biting in the fat meat just kills my whole taco eating experience. This taco was perfect especially with the red sauce at the salsa bar. They also have large looking burritos, mulitas, quesadillas and aguas. Yes the tacos are a little pricey but what can I say they are good. The flan is super creamy and delicious and reasonably priced. Weekends they have delicious menudo with fresh made corn tortillas...also delicious. The place is very clean and you can see the senoras in action making your order. I'm obsessed with pastor tacos & mulitas and am very particular with my pastor - FAV taco meat. Pastor was good but not great - it was extremely greasy from being reheated. I mean why have pastor from a spit but not served it directly from there? Doesn't make sense to precook your meat at a mainly taco restaurant it takes away from the flavor and tenderness of el pastor. Agua de piña another one of my favorites was extremely sweet for my taste. On the other hand they have a full salsa bar and their grilled cebollas are pretty good. I love this restaurant. Sadly I hate the delivery apps. If you go in person they will make sure that you get your order your way and you will be disappointed. When I saw you could get it delivered, it was the answer to my prayers because I was on strict bed rest but still craved tacos. I have ordered them three times. Each time I have added comments asking for the essential sides and toppings and each time I got delivered the correct type and amount of tacos but no toppings. Don't know why they allow for you to write special requests if they are not going to read them. If I was lucky, they threw in some salsa. No limes, no onions, no cilantro, and forget about getting any guacamole. So sad I could cry. Ok, update! I attempted a fourth order but I called the restaurant and let them know that I would be placing an order. I told them about needing all the fixings and they understood that the app for delivery is lacking. They worked with me though. We agreed I would order a carne asada taco alone specifying in the notes that this was for a side order of guacamole. When the delivery arrived, I was so happy.
