YIKES...Okay, we tried to give this place our business two different times and they failed twice!…read moreDuring the week I was in Coyoacán, I loved it, because you could walk almost anywhere and find good food and good service quickly. Definitely not this place! My girlfriend and I walked in around 2pm one afternoon and there was no one in the place. I was excited to give them some business until she said you can't drink without eating. Bummer! We had just eaten and only wanted an afternoon beverage so we went to nearby La Calaca instead (great mezcal and free veggies!). Part II - The following night, a wedding group of 13 of us were enjoying Centro Coyoacán. The groom chose this place for some drinks. And once again, when we tried to give them our business they said 4 apps were mandatory! Okay fine, so we ordered some apps. And then we tried to order beer but it was pretty difficult. They only had "dark and clear beer" and in a big or small size" lol. Very weird. ONE of the guys who is 31 didn't have his ID (You need to be 18 to drink in Mexico) but the waiter told the bride not to worry about it upon entrance into the place... After the orders were taken and everyone was settled, the waiter then finally decided to say all 13 of us couldn't be there because of the 1 person not having his ID. Mind you, we are all clearly over 18. And no establishments in Centro had once looked at Ids that night. It made it worse that he had lied to the bride about the party being allowed to stay. Very sad! Moral of the story is this place is super lazy and doesn't want your business. The menu sucks incredibly and the employees have had their incapable management team's mentality rub off on them. Go to nearby cabo coyote or la calaca! They both made our transition into a better and nicer restuarant very easy and enjoyable! Note: this is the only terrible experience I had while in Coyoacán for a whole week. Otherwise I absolutely loved the town.

They brought out this dip and large chip that was delicious, and the cocktails were excellent. We shared the hoja Santa, which was basically like a large green with cheese in between in a bed of delicious salsa. We then got some squash soup and my husband got a steak. Everything was absolutely amazing and loved being in the heart of Coyoacán. Highly recommend!

We'd eaten at their other location in Oaxaca and needed a bite to eat after we landed and checked in at our hotel. We arrived around 9pm on a Wednesday, and it was lively and a little busy, but we were able to be seated directly. I ordered a Mexican rosé wine, and my husband had a couple of cocktails. We enjoyed all the drinks we ordered. The food I was a little less happy with. My husband got the enmoladas de pato (heirloom corn cortillas stuffed with confit duck and covered in black mole on one and green mole on the other, with aged cheese and pickled onions. The dish was pretty good, easily the best of the night. I had the Ceviche Verde (fish cured in salt and marinated in citrus juice, oregaon, and herb pesto) and the Tostada de huitlacoche (a tostada with huitlacoche confited in olive oil and herbs and creamed avocado). The ceviche was fine (cutting it in smaller pieces might have led to it being a bit more tender and easy to eat), but I didn't enjoy the tostada. Rather than being a tostada with huitacoche on top of it (as the menu and my instincts suggested), it was about two cups of huitlacoche in a bowl with a tostata laid over the top. The portion of huitlacoche was kind of crazy (way too much for the single tostada it was served with), and I thought it needed more done to it? It tasted like huitlacoche straight out of the can (I'm sure it wasn't, but it needed some additional flavor and spice). The food was a bit of a mixed bag. The service was very good, and the restaurant is stunning. Like the Oaxaca location, Los Danzantes in Coyoacán is in a beautiful building, with stunning character and design. It wasn't the best meal I've had in Mexico City, but it was beautiful and the service was great. I'd definitely return for drinks and its great ambiance and service.

Los Danzantes - Sample of moles, manager brought out for us to try. Definitely better tasting than the dishes we orginally ordered.
