That will be the subject of a separate and well deserved review. Our dinner at L'Origan for 4 cost something approaching $500. Was it worth it? Yes, this was a life experience to be remembered as to how fine food should be served by skilled staff and a knowledgeable sommelier. Our local Loire Valley red and white wines were very good and the sommelier sensitive to our timing for service of the two wines. All four of us chose different starters to the meal and I took the criticism from my duck loving guest for my fois gras which was absolutely delicious. Illegal in California from where we hail, it was worth taking the heat! Crab meat and other starters were met with equal enthusiasm. My wife of some 50 years went into orgasmic delight over her blue lobster entree and I was equally impressed with my rare beef dish. An impressive array of fine cheeses followed my entree and the goat cheese which actually looks like a Brie is highly recommended. My mouth is watering at the thought of returning. If visiting a Montbazon, this is a must visit.

My wife and I don't speak French but LOVE French cuisine. We arrived with no reservation and decided to do the 7-course tasting menu because we couldn't read the menu. We are so glad we did! Every course was an exquisite example of a chef that respects his ingredients and takes full advantage of the region. I would love nothing more than to give you a play by play dissertation of each course, but in most instances we had no idea. What we did know is that we loved each and every course. Simply fantastic! Great wine list and great service, not to mention the chef personally delivered half of the courses!

The extensive menu has…read moresomething for everyone - nice looking salads, big juicy burgers, a selection of wurst, pork knuckles, and some pretty awesome desserts. The servers are efficient and friendly, fortunately ours spoke a bit of English. We learned that they don't bring you a bill -- you have to go pay at the register in the back of the restaurant. Hopefully, next time we go we'll have a little more French language under our belt and will be able to order our lunch without assistance from the server.
