TL;DR: Terrible food, terrible service, and chased by our absent waiter through the airport because he wanted a tip. I try, generally speaking, to avoid leaving negative reviews, but my experience at this restaurant was wild enough that I feel compelled to share. My party and I were seated and promptly ignored for 20 minutes. Not a single person on staff would look at us, and to the point where we almost left the restaurant. When our waiter finally took our order, we were on the verge of getting up to go, but decided to stay since we were being helped. My travel companion ordered the Vegan Burger (described as a patty made of pea and garbanzo beans) and I ordered the guacamole burger. We made a point of showing exactly what on the menu we wanted. The food arrived and the order was wrong. They did not bring the vegan burger; they brought a giant portobello mushroom on a bun. My guacamole burger was inedible - hard and dry with more mozzarella cheese on top than guacamole (truly, a disgusting amount of cheese). Both came with curly fries and, I kid you not, we each received maybe 10 broken pieces of curly fry per-plate. Each burger was just under $20 USD. Since neither my travel partner nor I are the type to complain at a restaurant, we decided to take the L and get our check without finishing the food. However, our server disappeared immediately after our food was left, did not check in a single time, and was gone for around half an hour. We could not get anyone else's attention to get our check so we finally walked up to the counter after around 30 minutes and asked to pay. A man who was not our server helped us pay and, for the first time in my life, I did not leave a tip (I will reiterate that our server spoke to us exactly one time in the span of an hour, and it was to take our order). We left the eatery and walked to the other end of the terminal when I got a tap on the shoulder. Our waiter (who could not be bothered to speak to us while we were in the restaurant) chased us to the other end of the terminal to demand tip! We said no and explained why and kept walking. I have never in my life experienced anything in any eatery (fast food restaurants included) like this. I want to be clear that I have NEVER not tipped - I am a 20% tipper across the board at restaurants, coffee shops, etc., even when the service is shoddy or the food isn't great - but with so many compounding factors and the audacity of our server to leave his job and chase us through Terminal 2, I can say confidently that this was the worst food experience of my life. read more

After asking around, they recommended la Taba for me to go have lunch. Well it was an improvement of what I could have gotten outside the gate versus what was around. Honestly I should have went to Starbucks, but I wanted to try as much different food as possible. Service here was lacking. But I guess I can't expect much since this is a "sports bar". I did get seated immediately, but my server took a while to come help me and bring me my check. When paying make sure you are stating either a percentage or a pesos amount for the tip. I told the waiter 50 and he ran my card for 50% tip. I realize it after he ran it, and apparently nothing could be done about it. I got their steak on a fried tortilla with beans (not sure what it was called). The steak was great. The tortilla was super hard and chewy. I can't even cut it well with a knife. I need to use a lot of arm strength. It was a workout just to eat the tortilla. There was a side sauce that was provided that is very spicy. read more

Don't eat here. The waiter scammed us. Charged us $2,550 pesos for four mezcalitas, because he chose the most expensive mezcal without asking us. Mexcalitas were on the menu for $197 pesos per drink. It wasn't a misunderstanding, but a deliberate scam. When I asked for the manager, he said that he was the manager. Believe his name is Alejandre Estrade Luis Gabriel per the badge he gave us. A huge bummer to have such a bad experience on the way home from an amazing trip. Read the other reviews as well. Seems like this business has a habit of overcharging customers for things they didn't ask for. Steer clear. read more

Stopped here on a longer than expected layover to merida. Place was packed with businessmen but they were able to seat us relatively quickly. I order a margarita double and my gf had a single. I would definitely recommend everyone against a double. It comes in a margarita glass but the drink isnt a double the size even though its double the price its mostly ice. Its a good margarita though, tasted like fresh limes. I order the chicken fajita and my gf had a steam torta. I enjoyed the fajita its slightly different than a traditional fajita because it doesnt come with any pita, or tortilla. Instead you get a scoop of beans and a scoop of guac. I didnt mind cutting out the empty carbs at all. It was solid especially for an airport. The waiter brought 3 salsas to the table all of which he gave the tourist disclaimer that they were spicy...they were not lol. Only one had a lil kick. I did not try the torta but my gf absolutely loved it. She eats a lot of sandwiches so her sandwich recommendations carry a lot of weight to me. The whole thing ended up being one of the more expensive meals we had in Mexico at about $1000 pesos before tip. read more

Huevo enchiladas Vera Cruz tasted fine. Though the eggs were over cooked and over powered by the sauce and thus indistinguishable. Not to mention the minimal amount they gave you. The little red bits were red hot dogs like links. Eat this for the sauce and not much else. read more

First time here at this airport and boy we got really lucky when we walked into this place. The rib eye tacos were really good. The meat was cooked just right. It also came with a nopal. guacamole. lime and salsa. I wish it would have also come with onions and cilantro, but it was still tasty. The carnitas tacos plate I ordered came with the tortilla soup. Very impressed by this airport joint in Mexico City such that we went twice! Shannon got a diverse hot plate of veges! We were impressed. I got the enchiladas which had a nice amount of cheese and sauce. The second time I got the nachos, and they used really good, proper cheese. Better than the sauce that we had at our resort in Cancun. So Taba simply had stellar food that would beat out most regular places and blows airport spots out of the water. read more

Offered a breakfast special that was supposed to be 199 pesos but charged 499 under excuse that it was based on a ribeye meal (most expensive item on the menu) which had nothing to do with the breakfast special I had. Wife made a mistake paying for it before looking more closely at the entire bill. Tried to talk to the manager, Juan Carlos Rodriguez, who was useless and said "too bad, that's the price (I decided to charge you today)". I guess I'll have to have a discussion with my credit card bank about this charge. Very disappointed with this restaurant. The food is awful. Our server smelled like he had been drinking all night. Ordered the nachos and a side of guacamole. The guacamole is really bad similar to the one they use at subway. The nachos were ok but the meat was nasty. We didn't like the service we received so only left a 2 dollar tip. Well the waiter comes looks at the 2 dollar tip and asked if we can give him an extra dollar. Not right. We didn't want to miss our flight so we just have him the dollar and took off. This place looked cool , almost in a corner, from outside so I decided to check it out. Well it wasn't a real big place as I thought, however got a spot to sit down right away. They give buns with salsa as a complementary. And I did eat the bun with the salsa. First thing they asked if I need cafe. Dont do cocktails with double shots here, they charge double the price of a cocktail rather than regular cocktail price and a shot price like any standard place. Youre better off buying a drink and a shot than getting a double shot cocktail because youll end up paying for 2 cocktails. Stopped in for breakfast before out flight. Immediately greeted at the entrance and offered seats at the bar. The space is a bit cramped, but understandable for an airport restaurant. The menu was clear to read and had many options. I opted for the eggs and machaca with an cappuccino. Our waitress was attentive and eager to provide us with any sides or extras that we needed. The food was fresh and very tasty. The machaca was seasoned well and the side of beans were thick and flavorful. For an airport restaurant, this place is pretty good! PROS: Free wifi that actually works, Takes Visa credit cards, tasty food, good service, open 24 hours. CONS: A little pricer than expected, but still way cheaper than American prices. We had a layover at this airport and ate here for both our inbound and outbound trips. The nachos are really tasty - super crunchy chips and flavorful beans/toppings. Their chicken soup and mushroom soup is really good as well. Unexpectedly, their dinner rolls were really good! What a pleasant find during a layover in Mexico City. I read some reviews about table side Caesar salad. I was skeptic but of course had to order. It was entertaining to watch them create the dressing in-front of you. I paired the salad with their rolled tacos (aka taquitos). Red and green salsa paired with it. I loved the green, a decent amount of heat and lots of great flavor. Only disappointment was the guacamole served with my rolled tacos - felt it wasn't as fresh tasting as everything else. Place was busy the whole time we were there but we only had to wait 5 minutes to be seated. Highly recommend! read more

As far as airport food goes we usually go in with low expectations for everything just in case. Great food and service! Stopped here for breakfast and both of us thought the food was way better than expected. We had the chilaquiles and one of their specialty dishes. The specialty dish was good even though they seemed to use powdered and not fresh Chile for their sauce. That is always hard to find at any rate. On tge chilaquiles asked for huevos estrellado and I forgot to tell them sunny side up since everyone is this country seems to only cook over easy or over hard. As soon as I walked in here it was obvious the employees were just interested in "selling". Still stayed and ordered some nachos which were very plain and flavorless; they even forgot to put the meat on them. What really upset me was that they charged me 56 pesos for three slices of lime. I asked for water and lime instead of ordering a "limonada" (limeade)!!!!!!!! I don't drink sugary drinks because I am pre-diabetic and I was already eating the nachos (the menu wasn't enticing)!!! The waitress didn't want to bother with my complaint (or felt bad charging me that much for the lime??) and sent a different waiter instead. He comes over, a little arrogant, and tells me that the charge is correct and that what I asked for is what makes a limeade (water and lime). When I asked for the manager, his response was that the manager is the one who told them to charge me for the 3 pieces of lime. So, I told him that I wanted to manager to tell me that. The manager comes over and had the nerve to still ask me if I wanted him to bring me a "limonada" or if I wanted a refund!!!!!
