Hands down, absolute worst restaurant experience ever (in Europe and across all continents). When we asked a simple question (if we could sit at a table with a better view; which we had requested on the reservation), the hostess started shouting at us in French: "you can leave if this table is not good enough", "speak French when you're in France" (we were speaking English among ourselves as my husband is American). Mind you, there was only one other table occupied in the entire restaurant (that alone should have alerted us that La Sirene is no longer what it used to be), and my mom speaks fluent French (and I can manage although my French has gotten rusty). She then got her husband and together they literally kicked us out while continuing their racist rant. The female host was by far the rudest and most small-minded woman we've ever encountered. She obviously only wants to host French people; never ever have we been shouted at in a restaurant by the staff.
Having grown up near the French border, my family and I used to come to this restaurant every few years but now we will never be back. On to the positive -- we received a recommendation from friendly locals on the parking lot (who overheard our conversation as we walked out) who recommended we go to La Marie Galante instead. We were lucky enough to score the last table and are so glad that we ended up there. The staff at La Marie Galante was beyond friendly, the atmosphere cozy, and the seafood was excellent. Fun fact -- when we walked by La Sirene later that day, the restaurant was still not full (no surprise..)
