Pulling into the parking lot, I was already nervous about staying there. The grounds are disgusting, the pool was empty and nasty looking, the parking spots are way too tight, the staff was VERY rude, our room was very poorly cleaned (if at all), and it looks NOTHING like the pictures. I was hoping for a fun stay for cheap prices. All I got was the cheap prices. I did give it two stars because I liked that we had our own kitchen and a back door leading to a nice little smoking area outside.
When we got there, we had to stand outside the entrance in a dangerous part of town and ring the doorbell. We had to wait for the softspoken woman who worked at the front to peek through her tiny peek-window in the door. When she spoke, I could barely hear her for two reasons. One, she was about as loud as a church mouse. And two, there was a train that went by pretty much the whole time blowing it's horn.
So we got checked in. I was expecting a key card like every other motel. NOPE. She handed me a straight out KEY. Ok, I was fine with that. I thought it was different and interesting. We pull into out parking spot next to our room and I ended up smacking the door on the side of the wall because there is NO room under the carport. On top of the very little room, there was a BIG ac unit sticking out into the carport right where the car door opened. Not very easy for maneuvering.
We finally got into our motel room. The bed was made. There was a tv in an entertainment center, a (very) stained chair, a small trashcan with no bag, and a rickety desk with squeaky drawers. We weren't expecting much for the prices. We continued to check out our room and discovered there was a decent sized bathroom, but it had no vent fan and one window big enough for anyone to crawl through (and the window had no bars or even screens). There were NO towels in the bathroom and half a tp roll left of the roller with no extras. I figured I'd ask for towels in the morning. No biggie. We continued our tour and discovered a nice sized kitchen. No complaints about that except the outdated accessories. Again, we couldn't expect too much for the price. We were surprised it even had a kitchen! We opened a door and discovered it took us out onto a shared back patio with overgrown dead grass and weeds, and an infestation of kissing bugs. (ew).
Four AM rolled around, and we got woken up by our car alarm going off and someone running away from our car. Real awesome.
We pull back the covers on our bed to find a condom wrapper. LOVELY. We pulled the covers back up and just layed on top of them. The next morning, I went to the office and had to wait for the lady to peek out the window. She refused to open the door at all, and when I asked if they supplied towels, all she said was "no!" and slammed the window in my face. I walked back to my room and was about to make a run to the store for some towels when my husband called into the office and complained, when she decided to hand deliver some towels for us and apologized for the inconvenience.
Our friend, who was also renting a room there, was standing out back with us during one of our smoke breaks. The lady who worked there was out in the storage unit and decided to walk over and question us as to what we were doing. I'm sorry, if you didn't want us to stand outside and smoke out back, don't give us a non smoking room with a patio.
As we were gathering up our things for check out, I was talking to my husband and our friend, and as I was complaining to them about the service, the (I'm assuming) owner came out of the room next to us and yelled at me that I need to quiet down (at ten in the morning.) I'll quiet down when the place is under better management.
Needless to say, I was VERY dissatisfied, and the only reason for me to ever check into that motel again is if I start smoking crack and need a place to get high. Or if the place is under all new management and maybe hires some cleaning ladies who actually know what they are doing. read more
