It was mostly shredded iceberg lettuce. It had some chicken, peppers and a few pieces of corn and pinto beans. Very ordinary but edible. My wife ordered tacos. Four of the smallest tacos I have seen were smothered with diced onions. She was also less than impressed. Casita Mexicana is just another average restaurant that tries their best, but just serves the typical "Euro-Mex" food. It just isn't the same as good Mexican food from the Southwestern U.S. (Or Mexico, of course). There were only two other couples in the restaurant, yet the girl sat us in the back, right next to the toilet. Didn't realize it until I was eating and started smelling it. We really miss Mexican food being that we're from California and you can tell by the dishes that this is true Mexican cuisine. The owners are from Mexico and if you want to level up your spice to your dish they have other spicer sauces like habanero which is difficult to find in Germany. They decorated really well and have huge painted murals and have Spanish music playing while dining, we will absolutely return the next time we're in Köln.

I've been twice now and one of the owners, a guy from Texas, is just such a pleasure to be around. He's friendly and happy to provide recommendations. He got a little sassy when I compared BABC to Chipotle, but whattaya gonna do --- they're essentially exactly the same. Which, if you're an American living in Germany, is a much-needed break from all the heavy German food. It's a compliment! The first time I was here I got the special - a chicken and lime burrito - which was pretty good. Enough for two meals, which the owner happily helped me pack up to take home. My second time I got a more traditional burrito with all the fixin's which was super delicious. So basically what I'm saying is: I will continue to come here every time I'm in Cologne. The ordering station, the names of the food options, it was like Chipotle had been transplanted to Germany. I think the owner is American and he/she saw and opportunity and grabbed it. I was PUMPED because I love Mexican food and haven't had good Mexican in the last 5 months of living in Europe. I legit clapped with glee when I walked inside. I was that excited. I ordered a burrito bowl with brown rice, black beans, corn salsa, pico, barbacoa, sour cream, and cheese. Plus a side of tortilla chips. Pricey, but dang. So, so good. Worth it. Wish they would have channeled their Qdoba vibes by offering free guac, but I'll take good Mexican food when I can. The ingredients seemed fresh and the place was hoppin' as business folks came in for their lunch breaks.
