This particular store acts as the main distribution point for the area where it ships out liquor to the other smaller La Playa stores in the area where quantity over variety/selection is the mode of operation here. Tequila is clearly the main product they sell (where selection is fairly good), followed by other liquors (both local and import), where there is some limited selection of high-end stuff to be had. This is definitely a store to be checked out if you are in the area but it's not worth a long walk or Uber ride in the event you are not in the area as the selection does not warrant that in my opinion. Same prices and a bit smaller selection can be had at any of the smaller Laplaya stores located throughout the area where if you are in the old town area I would definitely check out Vinos America as your first store of choice when buying liquor. Both stores sell liquor at lower prices than the competition but you will get a larger selection of higher end liquors at Vinos.

I'd been good about avoiding shopping (we just moved, and were horrified by how much stuff we'd accumulated over the years), and decided a nice bottle of mezcal would make an ideal souvenir. When this place showed up on my way to security, I popped in ready to get my duty free on. The place had that sort of bland vibe that infects every business in every airport I've ever visited, but an enthusiastic salesperson really made it feel warm and welcoming. She was awesome, a little middle-aged lady with a lot of peppy charm. She greeted me and urged me to sample different mezcals and tequilas--there was a whole table of them available to taste before purchase. I tried a few on her recommendation and they were all pretty delicious. I ended up going with a bottle of Mezcal Eterno, which I liked and had never had before. No AmEx, unfortunately, so I ended up getting dinged on my debit card for the international purchase. Otherwise, though, it all went smoothly--I got my mezcal at the gate, after I passed security, and it made it home with me safe and sound. I'd recommend this place if you're looking for duty free liquor/a good place to blow your last pesos. You get to leave Mexico with the taste of mezcal on your lips.
