As I was about to give up, I decided to change from trendy to........ Whatever (with limits, of course) I asked for a deep tissue/Sport massage, the owner called this little woman, literally half my size. As I am following her I thought SHIT & I whisper DARN IT! I had to turn around to make sure it was the same person. This little woman with jackhammer fingers, she had me subdued like a tamed lion, when she asked in her little voice: "Is this ok?" I whispered like a child, yeessss. And thought: What is happening to me right now? Why do I not want her to stop? It can't be 1hr. Already? She freaking rocked my world! The Truth is: Don't expect for trendiness, or quietness, the parlor looks like it was decorated in the 90's but it is clean The girls are very friendly but sometime too chatty on the phone, but you can ask them to stop. There is a wind chime on the door every time someone opens the door you know. You might even hear me moaning, or snoring, but one thing I know for sure, you will get the best massage in Amsterdam. Would I recommend: yes and yes Will I go back: I go once a month.

It was cold, dark and not really an environment that fosters relaxation. We paid them in cash first since they do not accept card. One lady stayed and watched as my wife and I stripped down for the massage. We looked at each in other confusion and asked, "Are we supposed to take our clothes off for this?" The lady said yes, so we asked her to give us some privacy... Which she did before barging back in after about 10 seconds. The entire massage was the WORST experience of my life. I mentioned the curtain, so we heard everyone who came in. The masseuses were constantly having conversations with each other. My massage felt like the lady was just rubbing a crazy amount of oil all over my body. There was no substance to it. About half way through after turning over, our masseuse asked us if we wanted a foot massage. We were confused because we paid for the full body which should have included it. We said yes, so they asked for an extra 35 euros. At this point, I was starting to get frustrated and said, "No extra, just the full hour." From that point, they only massaged us for another 15 minutes. I know they were rushing us because I had heard another customer come in and wait for a masseuse for the past 10 minutes. Whatever. I was happy to just end the experience but while I was getting dressed my heart sank. THEY GOT OIL ALL OVER MY FAVORITE COAT! Avoid this place at all costs.

Despite the name, Doctor Feelgood is probably the least dodgy place in Amsterdam to get a massage…read more It is highly professional - everything from their appointment bookings to the massages themselves. If you are the kind of person who wants to take a trip back to the womb to relax, this place is for you! My biggest pet peeves in relation to massages are 1) Your entire body being cold, except for the one area of your body that the masseur is treating 2) It being too bright (by 'too bright' I mean bright at all - a ceiling light feels like a supernova to me when I'm trying to relax) 3) Unsteady massage tables, causing you to tense up for fear of careening off the table during a particularly deep stroke ('...har har har, she said deep stroke...') As you might expect by my 5 star review, you needn't worry about any of these things at Doctor Feelgood. Lovely heat packs are strewn about the parts of your body that aren't being treated, lights are very dim and not straight overhead and the tables are solid. I've been here a handful of times and have enjoyed all the treatments. Doctor Feelgood prices might be a bit more than other places - no less because of the above, but the treatments *include* hot stones. You'll pay extra for this anywhere else so I feel the price is fair for what you get. They also have a great little shop that has fun products and things that make great gifts!

The first 15 minutes the masseuse didn't use any oil but instead massaged me with her sweaty, clammy hands. Gross. When she did finally apply oil - which is one of their trademarks here - the oil smelled great but I felt like she spent the next 45 minutes applying it on me instead of massaging it on me. I asked for her to apply harder pressure and that didn't really do much. Also, the massage are on thai style like mattresses but the massage is not 100% thai. So I spent the first 15 minutes on my stomach, facing the side, giving me neck pain that I didn't come in with. Partner came in and asked for deep tissue and said there was nothing deep about it. My recommendation, get the deep tissue but expect for it to be more of a relaxing massage. If you're looking for deep tissue go somewhere else. I had such high hopes since it's close to home and it looks quite welcoming but really was more style than substance.
