I don't want to be that guy giving 5 stars all over the place. I can't deny this place though, it's got what it takes to be that . So because of symantics I will default at 4 stars. Only reason is that I don't know how to "properly" critique Italian food.
Placement: this place is in the Hearst if centro Monfalcone. This is a small town that has a kick, people here are predominantly shipyard workers but dispite the blue collar work force the town still has a pension for good taste. This place is a slice of good taste served up nicely.
Patio wine barrel tables out front, hard wood with much artwork adorning the walls inside. Simple cool jazz playing for background. All this is laid into a century old converted horse stable. It's got history and style.
Service: the owner is on site every time I come here. He has a community if regulars that come by for a glass of wine here and there. It's a family business and they run it as such.
Menu/food: the menu haven't changed too much since coming here first. They have traditional northern Italian dishes. Gnocchi with goulash sauce tops the list and lasagna, cannelloni, ravioli, and of course the steak. I have had many of the dishes and never went wrong. Gnocchi last time and it was awesome. Had a steak a whole ago and it was done to my perfection medium rare, the owner told me he was getting the steaks from across the border as they are allowed to age them more here. I want to say 30 days but I'm speculating... It was on point!!! Now one complaint but not against this place, just Italy in general... They fillet their steaks here. That's a big nono in my country but no complaints here for their food at all!!!
If your in Monfalcone you have to come here. Its great. read more
