Our first night here was New Years Eve and at first we were turned away because this is the only…read morenight of the year they require reservations. How would we know that?! Thankfully one of the gentlemen in our party knew the owner and he put us at a corner table and told us we had one hour to graze the buffet (at full price, no discount) the waitress watched us like we were thieves and promptly threw us out in an hour. None of the niceties were offered to our table like the complimentary champagne cocktails being served to the tables with reservations. This kind of set the tone for the next visit. When I surreptitiously went to the register to pay as a treat for my dinner companions I was handed a bill that included a child. There wasn't a child at our table and when I tried to argue this fact several employees surrounded me and became very aggressive. Then the waitress who had argued with my dinner companions when we arrived with their dog in tow came over to join the melee. She pointed her finger at me and said, "YOU BROUGHT DOG!" and she charged us a child's fee for the dog. How was the food? Who would want to eat in a restaurant that condones such hostility towards the guests?

This review is strictly based upon our dining experiences (6 of us) at Lao Vientiane Restaurant…read more First of all...the name is deceiving to advertised as a Laotian restaurant. It IS NOT! It's a Vietnamese / something else and definitely NOT Lao or Thai. I asked our kind server if this was a Lao restaurant (hence the restaurant name) she looked at me like I was crazy for asking such question. Then she replied (No...its Vietnamese) The restaurant is very very very very small...if one blink, one will missed the restaurant. They have a total of 10 tables (2 people per table) and A server (ONE-server-probably the owner's daughter) was working the entire 10 tables. We were so hungry after traveling from Florence,Italy to Nice France on such a long drive. One would think the food would be outstanding considering how hungry we were. Oh la la...I have never had such awful Asian food in my life. The papaya salad had no flavor (it lacked all the ingredients of a tradition Lao or Thai papaya salad) the beef satay is beyond salty, the lemon grass beef smells like it was spoiled, the chicken curry is horrific and the pad Thai was made with fat noodle instead of the regular pho noodle. Speaking of pho, one of us ordered pho and she couldn't even stomach it. The flavor for all of our items were off and could NOT stomach the food. I am so sorry to give such a review...when it comes to food, we have high expectations and standards. we eat out around the would and love Asian food. What we had tonight was anything but. We will NOT be coming back to this restaurant.
