They have different stations and lines depending on what you're ordering, with a huge variety of meats to choose from. I even spotted some more adventurous options, like cow brains and cow eyes! I tried the steak quesadilla, a chorizo taco, and a lengua taco. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients, especially the tortillas, which tasted freshly homemade. The lengua taco was easily my favorite! The meat was incredibly flavorful and had the perfect texture. I've had lengua before that was rubbery and overly chewy, but this was tender and cooked beautifully. The green salsa added just the right amount of heat without overpowering the flavor of the meat. The chorizo taco was also excellent! The meat was well-seasoned, savory, and had just the right amount of saltiness. It came with similar fresh toppings and salsa, which complemented everything really well. As much as I enjoyed it, I would definitely order more lengua tacos next time! The steak quesadilla, however, wasn't my favorite. It was completely different from what I typically think of as a quesadilla. Instead of a soft tortilla folded over melted cheese and meat, this one had a soft, house-made tortilla on the bottom with a layer of melted cheese, followed by steak and the usual toppings, and then what seemed like a hard crispy tostada-style shell on top. There wasn't any additional cheese between the steak and the top shell, so the layers felt pretty separate rather than everything being melted together. I'm not sure if this is a different style of quesadilla, but it definitely wasn't what I was expecting! It wasn't necessarily bad, just not my preference. I much preferred the tacos, especially the lengua! Another thing I appreciated was how quick and efficient the service was, especially considering how busy and lively the restaurant was. I also love that they're open super late, making this a great spot for a late-night bite in Vegas. Overall, I'm so glad I finally got to try Tacos El Gordo! The quality of the food, fresh ingredients, fun atmosphere, and efficient service made it a great experience. Although the quesadilla wasn't quite my style, the tacos more than made up for it. Definitely somewhere I'd happily return to on my next trip to Las Vegas!

We wanted tacos on a Friday night, so we came to the location on the strip, and wow. Busy, busy, busy! 1. Expect to wait. The lines are long if you want carne asada/chorizo. We waited about 20 minutes to get to the window to order. There are 5+ ordering stations, and patrons need to form lines for the type of meat they want. Chorizo/asada, pork, lengua; there's also a line for fries. 2. After you order, they make the tacos right in front of you. This can take some time depending on what you get. 3. After you get your food, you go to a separate station to pay for your food and drinks. When I saw the slabs of asada being taken out of cold storage and slapped on the grill, I was not expecting much. The meat didn't appear to be marinated or seasoned. Thankfully, their meat has more than what meets the eye! The carne asada was tender AND seasoned! The corn tortillas are being made on demand, so they are fresh and perfect. They have size options for the meaty fries, and omg. We got a medium, and there was noooooo way we were able to finish them. We should've gotten a small! The fries are meant to be shared! The tacos were loaded--salsa, cilantro, red onion, guac. They use yellow corn tortillas and only one tortilla per taco. The vampiro tacos have the same fixings but cheese is added and the corn tortillas are grilled hard. I love red onion, so I was pleased with this topping! I wanted to try the vampiro and the asada, but it was way too much food for me. My husband and I would have been better off getting one of each to share and a small order of asada fries. While this wasn't the best taco I've ever had, I definitely appreciated the experience and can now say I survived Tacos El Gordo on the Strip!

Nice place to visit for high end Mexican food when you're hanging around Fremont Street, just a 1/2…read moreblock away. Try the Mexican corn appetizer with it's crumbly cotija cheese, chili, lime, and mayo on top of charred corn kernels. It's in 'esquites' form, which means it's not left on the cob like 'elote' is. Their specialty, nachos, are also well seasoned and the chips are freshly made on site. What drew me in to this restaurant was a past appearance on the Maury Povich Show, where I took a paternity test for someone who claimed she was my daughter. The end result? I was cleared, so Maury pointed at me while telling her that he's "Not yo' daddy." And so I visit Nacho Daddy on occasion, strictly for celebratory reasons. Birria nachos are excellent, made with a high quality shredded beef with pickled onion, cilantro, sour cream, cheese, and lime on top of a stack of chips. Having birria without consommé was new, but this one didn't really need it with all the flavors jumping out. Another recommendation is the cheeseburger nacho, an Americanized version with ground beef, bacon, cheddar, jack, queso, onions, tomato, and lettuce. The 'mini nachos' are perfectly sized for a light meal but if you're hungry, get the full size order which is huge and shareable. This location has been in business for 17 years now and there's plenty of seating in a nice, clean atmosphere.

From the moment we walked in, the warm atmosphere and excellent service made the night special. Amanda went above and beyond with her customer service. She made sure our flowers and balloons were delivered and beautifully arranged on our table waiting for us, such a thoughtful touch that made the evening even more memorable. Our server was also fantastic, attentive and friendly throughout the night. The food was next-level. They must have a new chef because this is hands-down the best Mexican food we've had in Las Vegas. My carne asada chef's special tacos were incredibly juicy and packed with flavor (unlike the dry ones you often get elsewhere). The queso fundido and fresh guacamole were excellent, my wife's shrimp entrée was outstanding, and the flan was truly unique, my daughter said it was the best she's ever had. Every dish was a hit, and the cocktails were fantastic too. Everyone in our group raved about their meals. If you're looking for delicious Mexican food and wonderful service in downtown Las Vegas, look no further. La Mona Rosa is highly recommended!

Title: The Best Birria I've Had... Period!…read more (5/5 stars) If you're a birria lover, stop what you're doing and head to Birria Bite. This place may be a small tavern-style spot with just enough seating, but don't let the size fool you. The moment you walk in, the aroma of the birria comes rolling out of the kitchen like a raging bull--it lets you know you're in the right place! They offer both goat and beef birria, and the flavor is absolutely incredible. I've only been eating birria for about five years, but in that time I've made it a mission to try it everywhere I travel. I've had birria from Las Vegas, California, Nebraska, Florida, and Texas, and I can honestly say Birria Bite is hands down the best I've had. I always order the Quesabirria Combo, and it never disappoints. The consommé is rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned--good enough to sip on by itself. And even though it's outside my normal diet, I can't leave without getting the Piña pineapple drink. It's sweet, refreshing, and absolutely fire. The hospitality is always A1, the staff makes you feel welcome every visit, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions you receive. This is one of those hidden gems you'll keep coming back to. If you haven't been yet, you're missing out. Don't meet me there... beat me there... or be square!

I recently ordered from here multiple days in a row and received excellent, attentive service each time from the gentleman at the front register. On every visit, I ordered a combination plate featuring three lamb and beef birria tacos, which came with a side of consommé and lime. Each time, the meat was perfectly tender, the tacos had the ideal crunch, and the overall flavor was rich and savory. They also provided a huge cup of consommé, and I used the leftovers to make delicious birria breakfast burritos the next morning. I will say the restaurant has a unique layout with around fourteen tables, so it can feel a bit tight at times, but I usually order takeout anyway. This place is a must-try for anyone who enjoys birria.
