Prati is our hood in Rome, and we were craving pizza after several days of pasta upon pasta. La Pratolina is a Prati stalwart and was filled with an eclectic group of people on a Friday night in February. The expansive rooms were filled with locals of all ages and all persuasions. Interestingly, not once did I feel old, or was I treated any differently because of my age, during ten days in Rome. That does not happen in the United States. La Pratolina serves an Ancient Rome inspired pizza called Pinsa. It's hand-stretched into an oval shape, using a mix of soy, rice, and wheat flour with a high water content, resulting in a crust that is very light, airy inside, and crispy on the outside. We found our two pizzas unique and delicious. Packed at 10:30 at night, the staff had to be efficient and ran around, working hard, serving people in the several rooms and outside. They didn't have time to gab until close to closing, and then our female server was very charming answering my questions with aplomb. La Pratolina has great pizza and reasonable prices. It's as authentic as anything you'll find in Italy. I love Prati, and La Pratolina represents its hood well. read more

Right from the airport we came straight here! Parking was hard to find. We ended be up finding a garage that was affordable within steps to La Pratolina. The waitress was wonderful. She was patient with us as we poured over the menu. The restaurant is quaint and nicely decorated inside. The outside seating is beautiful as well. We decided to sit outside since it was a nice day in May. The wine was great. The squash blossom was an experience but I like less batter in order to taste the delicate flower. The pizza was amazing. Can I order another to go right now? The crust is light and crispy. You have to try it to believe how good it is. How could I have so little time in Rome that I didn't get a chance to eat a proper meal here. There will be a next time, that is for sure. read more

Highly recommend this little gem! We walked over for lunch after visiting the Vatican and couldn't have been more pleased. Located in a very residential area, the atmosphere is exactly what you would want it to be - quiet, quaint and authentic. The service was wonderful. Upon arrival they greeted us with a welcome glass of Prosecco. Our waitress made recommendations for pizza which was absolutely delicious. I couldn't eat another bite, but alas, I finished the whole thing. Once we paid, they offered us a complimentary shot of limoncello. A wonderful experience all around! read more

Per people's recommendations, I came here for the best Roman-style pizza. But I was not impressed. Only because New York has spoiled me with some of the best pizzas in the world. (By the way, my Italian friends told me later that Rome is not famous for pizza period. Naples is. ) The pizza you should get here is La Pratolina. The truffle there was really the highlight. Mixed with cured meat and cheese, the flavors were quite good. But the dough was soggy and on the thicker side. I just didn't get it. Maybe that's how Roman pizzas are. Came here around 11pm on a Monday night because it was close to our hotel. The waitress was friendly and the restaurant had a couple of tables (a mix of locals and tourists) with a nice vibe. We ordered one pizza each and a green salad. We were given complimentary Prosecco to start and the flavors mixed nicely together! Would highly recommend for some great pizza! read more

This is a restaurant where locals go. This is not the tourist trap type of restaurant. Pizza was delicious and the so does the wine. Prices are affordable. Restaurant is very welcoming and clean. Talking about a local spot... first time finally found a spot where it's all locals and we are the only Americans there. It's located in a very residential neighborhood. Delicious pizza! I ordered the prosciutto, mozzarella, arugula, and tomatoes. Fresh ingredients, friendly service, and very very busy. Even for 10 pm, this place is packed. I can see this as a fun hangout with the friends or a romantic table for two. The rooms are set up as two separate dining rooms with the pizza stove in the middle. Decided to try this place out after watching a vlog on the pinsa here. The two types that were recommended are the Emiliana and the Genovese. Our waiter was very nice and complemented our entry with glasses of Prosecco. The pinsas were delicious! We found this gem near our Air B&B we stayed at during our visit to Rome. This was one of the places that were open late night until 1AM within our area and for our first night in Rome, we were so glad to find this place. It exceeded above our expectations for authentic pizza in Italy! As soon as we were seated, the waitress handed us a complimentary glass of prosecco. We then started with the fried vegetable for appetizer that consisted of aubergines, potatoes, peppers and fresh zucchini served with a pink sauce. We also ordered a bottle of wine for 15 euros- Brachetto D'Acqui red wine, what a steal and one of the best wines I've ever had! We ordered two pizzas, La Pratolina- cream of truffles, mozzarella, champignon mushrooms, cacio cavallo and speck and the Irish-truffle cream, mozzarella fior di latte, boiled potatoes and sausage. Both pizzas were white sauce based and were out of this world good! A bit of a warning though, they don't cut your pizza unless requested and it does get messy. The service was great and welcoming and also provided us with English menus which was a plus. When I return to Rome, I'll be sure to keep this place in mind, definitely worth a visit! read more

I can see why this restaurant is busy into the late evening hours, frequented by locals, young people, and tourists like us. Once I stepped in I got a whiff of truffle, yes! We ordered 3 pizzas and my personal favorite was the one with mushrooms and truffle, my brother like the mortadella, you can't go wrong. The pizza crust is actually 'pinsa' which is very light, airy, and not greasy, we couldn't stop eating! A friend who has visited Rome before recommended La Pratolina to us, as it is around the corner from the B&B we were staying at during our visit in December. The location is very convenient, and is definitely a local place. As tourists, we definitely did not feel as if we were in a tourist hot spot. We did not realize that reservations were highly recommended, but we were able to be seated when we arrived. The staff was very kind and service was wonderful. The pizza we ordered had prosciutto and arugula, and the prosciutto was cold while the rest of the pizza was warm. Maybe that's how is was to be served, but it wasn't my favorite. If we return, I would likely order something else. However, the Nutella tiramisu that we ordered for dessert was incredible! I wish that we could have brought it back home with us. It was so delicious, and was one of the best things we ate during our week in Rome! read more

You have to get an appointment or get there early or you will have to wait, also you will need basic Italian, this place is not for tourist or for kids, is full with locals, its a real Italian place, you should not be in a hurry (this is not fast food). The pizza is like Italians eat it, it is not swimming in bad cheese. The proseco they offered us for $7 the liter was delicious. the prices very low for Europe. We spend $53 Euros for 3 people including 1 dessert and 1 coffee. This place is authentically a local Roman favourite but one that is very inclusive for visitors. This can be a sit down restaurant for outstanding pizza or be a fabulous takeaway. Don't expect American or Australian fusion pizza here. What you get is the real deal and its fantastic. I just tucked into a delicious zucchini flower pizza with mozzarella and anchovies. Yum! Washed down with a glass of Pinot Grigio for half of what I'd pay for the equivalent in Australia. Come here if you're in the neighbourhood but book ahead for a table. read more

Coming from NYC/Brooklyn, my husband and I consider ourselves pizza snobs... we know a good pie. Based on all of the other Yelp reviews I was certain I would love this pizza and I really wanted to... I really did. The place is filled with locals which I took as a good sign. Like most meals in Rome, the pizza prices were incredibly reasonable - I don't think either of our pies exceeded 10eur. Dough is a bit thicker, yet light and airy and very good.... off to a good start! I got the margherita and husband got one with sausage I think? Honestly, we just didn't love it. We were talking about it afterwards and decided that the ingredients and flavors, while basic, just didn't gel. The sauce didn't wow me. There was a lot of cheese and it was almost tough. The basil didn't really taste flavorful. We were disappointed b/c this place got such great reviews and I wanted to like it but alas... it was just OK. I can't complain though b/c it really was such a reasonably priced meal so not a problem. Wait staff was great. Service was prompt.
