This is a truly exquisite property. We felt like we were movie stars stepping into the 1960's as guests of a very rich family living on the Italian coast. The property is stunning. The villa/hotel really takes your breath away. It is perched just on the water and the grounds are gorgeous. Another very cool aspect is that it is built on the ruins of a Roman villa which you can tour at your leisure.
We were given an upgrade to a sea view deluxe room. Soaring ceilings. Comfy bed. Gorgeous view of the ocean. AmaZing bathroom with big tub.
The reason for 4 stars is two fold. First and foremost, the breakfast was woefully underwhelming. A 1 Star at best. They told us it opened at 7:30. We arrived about 7:45. A third of the items - such as bread, croissants, mozzarella, tomatoes - had not been put out yet. There was one server but only 3 tables. Dirty plates sat on table without being cleared. The champagne for the juice bar did not come out until 8:15. The eggs were absolute soup!! They tasted fine but definitely not the consistency you would expect. So much room for improvement here.
We did have a lovely lunch the day before and a good dinner. Beware the prices are astronomical for meals here. But it's a beautiful property - if you want economy, stay at the airport Hilton. We wanted luxury and we got it! I would go back here without hesitation. read more
