Set directly on La Tonnara beach--literally steps from the sea--the location is truly special. The beach itself is stunning[1], and the setting makes for a peaceful, relaxing day. The restaurant complements the environment perfectly: elegant and stylish, with a unique aesthetic. The bar, in particular, stands out with its artistic furniture and sculptures crafted from driftwood and salvaged trees. It's also a great spot for families. Umbrella and lounger rentals are available just a few meters from the water, so you can lounge in the sun or shade while the kids play safely nearby. Even better, there's beachside service--so you can enjoy a refreshing cocktail without leaving your spot. That said, it's not cheap: a set with one umbrella and two loungers costs €50 if you're dining at the restaurant, or €70 if not. The food is solid, if not spectacular. My assiette de la mer (€32) was fresh and enjoyable, and the salade de l'OM (€20) was light, flavorful, and refreshing. I also remember enjoying their tahini dish from a previous visit. Drinks are on the pricier side, with most cocktails around €14. Overall, the pricing reflects the premium location and ambiance--Corsica isn't a budget destination to begin with. Service is excellent. The staff member who set up our beach loungers checked in throughout the day to adjust our umbrella and ensure we stayed in the shade, and beachside drink service was quick and attentive. If you're looking for a laid-back day in a beautiful, beachfront setting--and you're comfortable with the prices--Le Goeland won't disappoint. ----------------------- [1] And never particularly busy, at least the times I've been here in early July.

Very polite, but not attentive to the amount of customers to the portions of bread for example. The ambiance I believe is all in the price of the food. The view is excellent over looking the harbor. Ciccio is not the open-air terrace restaurant, even though the menu fonts are almost identical. The chef is incredibly charming and friendly. Because it's open kitchen, he can greet and chat with all his guests. Back home, anything I've ordered from a kids' menu has usually been bland and presented with little care. Not at Ciccio. They use high quality ingredients for every dish, and even the kids' meals are thoughtfully prepared. The presentation is beautiful and you can tell the chef puts a lot of love and attention into every plate. Ciccio also has a bougie pastry shop on the waterfront and a bakery just a short walk from the restaurant. If you don't speak French, you might initially think the staff are a bit reserved because they don't automatically switch to English. I used Google Translate to communicate and translate the menu. Once they saw I was making an effort, they quickly warmed up. By the end of the meal, they were friendly and chatty. Yes, lobster pasta was pricey at 50 Euros but definitely worth the splurge. Every bite was packed with succulent, tender lobster meat that was juicy and flavorful. Pork was on the fatty side but most folks go for them. I like lean meat.

The weather was too amazing to sit inside, (I heard it was a rainy August), and the candle lit table with the sunset was just breathtaking. We started with champagne and the roasted eggplant which was very nice. Then we moved onto our entrees and two glasses of local red wine. Husband got the steak and asked for medium. It came out almost raw! I know there's a variation of what medium really is but what's raw to them then? haha I had the roasted pork, (when in Corsica!), and as delicious as it was, this was probably the most difficult piece of meat I've ever had the pleasure of eating. It arrived in a little cast iron pan and they gave me another small appetizer plate to "work" the meat. The crunchy skin make it almost impossible to pierce through with my knife and the other side had a bone! I was working it left and right and unfortunately a portion of my dinner landed on the floor, a small portion though. We shared the trio of creme brulee and the pistachio one was the best! Definitely would recommend coming here and make a reservation if you're there during high season!
