I know some good Yelp karma will come my way if I share the love with my fellow French pleasure-seekers, so... My French family has been coming to Le Commodore beach club for over 20 years, and apparently not much has changed, except the prices (come on US dollar, get back in shape!). Just a few miles from St Tropez, the little beach town of Le Lavandou provides the perfect amount of luxury, without any of the hype or snobbery of other French riviera towns. The beaches are lovely, calm, and warm and Le Commodore has one of the best pieces of beach real estate right in their front yard. You can rent one of their classy chaise lounges for the day, order chilled bottles of rosé without having to leave your chair, take a lunch break at their cafe and eat fish fresh from the Med, and take a sunset swim before heading back to your hotel. The missing star is for the high-ish prices (it has nothing to do with the fact that I got stung by a jellyfish on their beach and my fiance had to perform a "natural" remedy on me). Even though my family-in-law has been coming here for decades, they still don't give us any breaks. They must know that we'll keep coming back anyway, bien sûr.

We received complimentary shots at the start and end of our dining. The cocktails are very delicious and refreshing. For our entree we both got the steak with mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were absolutely amazing and the perfect side. The steak arrived cold but they quickly brought us back some warm steak. The dancing part was fun. The staff here are all very friendly and help to ensure the crowd is having a good time!

Entrees, we had cod in squash with a legume medley, and cacio y Pepe. I will repeat again, the food was excellent. Also, the location and scenery was excellent. But, the service was disappointing. I can elaborate but I will not. The servers were nice but didn't deliver either because too busy for the amount of personnel or just sub standard expectations on their part. Overall, great location, DELICIOUS food, poor service. Would try again with the hopes we'd have a different experience.

I would feel comfortable here on a date, out with family or friends, or even just a solo lunch. I made a reservation here for my sister's and my first night in Saint Tropez, since it was close to…read moreour hotel and seemed to have healthy(ish)/meatless options on the menu. The location is nice, located on a quieter street--it definitely has a quaint atmosphere. The outdoor seats are perfect for relaxing and people watching, which I did with my generous glass of champagne, la piscine ($11). They served the champagne over ice (different from what I'm used to in the states), but it was very refreshing on a hot summer evening. The place filled up quick so do make a reservation if you'd like to dine here... several groups/couples were turned away. I ordered the Nicoise salad (sans anchovies) since I needed some protein (minus meat) but it was a little disappointing/underwhelming. The portion was on the smaller end of the spectrum and the salad contained less than what I'm used to... I had a delicious Nicoise salad in Nice a handful of years back. This version contained mixed greens (which could have been fresher), vine tomato, sliced red onion, hard boiled egg, and a couple spoonfuls of canned tuna. I remembered that the french like to overcook their hardboiled eggs, why? The salad definitely had potential if it were a little fresher and more satisfying. However, it was only $13 so nothing crazy considering it is Saint Tropez. My sister ordered pasta in a tomato sauce which was also just okay. Service was decent, we were served pretty quickly for European standards. But I wouldn't have minded either way. I would recommend coming here and ordering some champagne to sip, if they allow. Perhaps the meat dishes are tastier--there are better dining options for plant-based folks.
