A cute little market open Wednesday to Friday between noon and 7pm…read more I'm only giving three stars because it is quite small, so perhaps it's not worth a separate market-browsing trip like many of its larger counterparts. However, if you work/live nearby or are passing through King's Cross area, it's definitely a pleasant place to stop by and stock up on some delicious ingredients or a quick lunch. I saw at least two good looking fromageries, a mouth watering charcuterie (with ready to eat portions on display too, so you can stock up your pantry and have a quick lunch at the same time), a stand with tasty smoked salmon, and other standard market evergreens like quiche, baked goods and pastries galore. My favorite find was a stand with a lovely lady selling unique marmelades and jams from various tropical fruits. Grab a sample and give them a try.

I was carrying a suitcase full of yummy cheese, canned fish and preserved meat (can't beat a trip to Spain) and thought it would be nice to pick up some crusty bread to eat for lunch with some of my souvenirs. As it turns out, I got the crusty bread and much more. This small version of The Real Food Market (a larger version used to exist on the Southbank but this has recently been replaced by The Southbank Centre Market). When it was on the Southbank, the Real Food Market had many stalls with prepared food. This market isn't zoned to serve hot food so all of the stalls are either selling raw ingredients (cured meats/fish/cheese, sweet and savory baked goods) or cold meals (scotch eggs/savoury pastries/pies). Being that it is very near my house, I find myself Favorite retailers: Crosstown Doughnuts- the creme brulee doughnut. enough said. The Flour Station-huge selection of delicious sourdough bread and other baked goods Outsider Tart-amazing brownie bar concoctions (see separate review) Cannon & Cannon Fine Foods- tasty charcuterie (see separate review) Also: The guy selling meat pies (the sausage rolls look delish too) The guy selling smoked salmon (it's heavenly but too expensive) I will mark this market down a star, only because all the vendors are far more costly than I would normally shell out for their goods. The exception to this is the few prepared food options for lunch available--they're pretty standard at around a fiver for lunch. But given that it's so close to home and convenient, I know that I end up caving and paying up at least one day per week of this market's Wednesday/Thursday/Friday run.

Home of the Wowshee Egyptian falafel stall. Therefore this little market gets five stars because…read morethat is the best falafel I've had in my life and I've eaten a lot of falafels. There are a couple other falafel vendors but the best one is Wowshee they have a falafel cover Scotch egg and the falafel is to die for a ate both and I don't regret it Basically this is like a street food Open Air market so if it's rainy you've got to duck under some awning areas to eat. There's really no tables so you usually people probably take it to go. We found a couple of chairs under an awning and ate ours right there.

When food was food and there certainly was no hint of metrosexual artisanal cheeses and funny foreign breads on the horizon! In fact, Berwick Street Market is part of the ever shrinking world of the old Soho that Westminster council is trying to clean up and walking from one end of the market to the other is like passing through a time warp. At the southern end are the few remaining sleazy streets of neon adult shops and adult theatres and as you walk to the northern end, you end up at Yaautcha, Alan Yau's upmarket teashop and dim sum bar, where you can gaze longingly through the window at the rows upon rows of perfectly formed cakes. The stalls are mainly fruit and veg with the sellers calling out their wares as you would imagine happening in the archetypal English market. The quality of fruit can vary, so be discerning. There are also stalls selling flowers, bags, odd electrical items, a fishmonger and a creperie. Mu favourite is the stall selling nuts and little snacks like Japanese crackers. It's can be found towards the northern end of the market. There's a good selection often with little pots available for tasters. The chap who runs the stall is also very helpful with suggestions if you're not sure what to get. I wonder if Berwick Street Market will survive Westminster Council's revolution. It would be a shame if it doesn't.

Strutton Ground Market is a small street market held on weekdays near the Victoria section of…read moreLondon. The market is named for the narrow cobblestone street that it is located on. It is one of the most centrally located street markets in London. The market mainly caters for local residents and the office population in the immediate Victoria Street area, selling food, groceries, books and clothing, but is becoming increasingly popular with tourists. My wife and I visited the Strutton Ground Market while we were on a trip to London in April 2019. We had just visited Westminster Abbey down the street, and my wife told me about a great street market that we could stop at for lunch. She had studied abroad in London and knew her way around the city pretty well. There were so many delicious-sounding food vendors that we had trouble picking. I decided to order from a Middle Eastern food vender called Falafel Zaki Zaki. I ordered "The Whole Shebang Wrap" which was stuffed with falafel, eggplant (aubergine), salad, hot peppers, pickled vegetables and white sauce. Just as I was about to take a picture of the delicious wrap, the vendor posed for the shot and had me cracking up. That wrap was so good!! My wife found a cool Indian street food vendor and ordered some Samosas and a side of Chicken with Rice. We ended up sharing all of our food and were very happy with our choices. We'll definitely stop again on our next trip to London.

Yayayayayayayayayayayayayayayay!…read more I found a place that sells healthy & reasonably-priced salads to go right here in W1! I thought I would never see this day... Goodge Place Market is a tiny food market in the likes of its bigger siblings like Leather Lane & Whitecross Markets in Easternish London. Here they only have a total of six stalls, but all of them serve delicious foods: - Burritos (Freebird Burritos) - Salad Boxes (£ 4.50 per box) - Thai food (Simply Thai) - Falafel (Hoxton Beach) - Köfte wraps/sandwiches That's really all I could've wished for...I feel so blessed having discovered this market!

By the time I'd reached Goodge Place, I'd walked in and out of more than a few chain shops, unable to find something which ticked both the 'affordable' and 'healthy' boxes. Then I came across this market. I spied a salad stall, and decided to go for that. After all, it was pretty decently priced at £4 for a large box of sundried tomatoes, cous cous, aubergines, beans and other vegetables. To my surprise, the salad also came with a thick chunk of Turkish bread, which made it even better value for money. There's an assortment of other stalls here as well - Mexican, Thai, falafels - and they're here Monday to Friday.
