Here we go. The review I never thought I'd write. The review for the best restaurant I've ever…read moreeaten at in my life. My father bought a house in France almost ten years ago. He was inspired, in part, by Peter Mayle who wrote A Year In Provence. In among his many books, he mentions Auberge de la Mole as one of the places he loves. Therefore, my dad insisted on taking us. I couldn't believe that La Mole is a one stoplight town, almost impossible to find in Provence. I also couldn't believe how easy and quick it was to get seated here on a warm summer night during tourist season. The restaurant itself is completely unassuming. From the outside, it looks no different than a big brasserie. The chairs are plastic patio chairs. The awning is a tacky blue and there's a gas pump just outside of the restaurant because it used to be a filling station. However, to say this place is incredible would be an understatement. To say it isn't as close to perfect as a restaurant could get would also be wrong. Auberge de la Mole excels on every level. It's a family-run restaurant. It's an auberge (in this case, similar to an inn). The waitstaff, the cooks, the barmen are all members of the same family. They were extremely kind and the service was excellent. The way this meal works It's a feast. You only choose two dishes, the starter, and the main course. The rest of the courses are a wide assortment of different dishes that you can pick or choose from. The cheeses, the breads, the pates/foies, the desserts are all brought out in huge trays from which you can pick and eat your fill for as long as you'd like. The main dishes were of course to die for. They are all incredible and it is a feast fit for a king. The ingredients are fresh off the farm, the dishes are perfectly cooked, every bite melts away in your mouth and you find yourself unable to stop eating. You sit there for hours and you eat. It's not a dinner, it's a comprehensive dining experience. Moderation is key at this place. Because it is essentially set up as all you can eat, you need to practice self-control. You've never had better food in your entire life, so it's tough not to want to eat as much of everything as possible. However, not having known how much food there would be, we ate too much too early. But this was a lesson learned. I can't wait to go back with some friends this summer, and once again eat the most incredible meal of my life. Note: It is cash-only, so come prepared.

The best place for original Provençal cuisine!!!!! It is a nice restaurant not far from St. Tropez…read more You can sit at the lovely terrace or inside. The service is outstanding - of course!! We had a lot of great evenings there. The first course 5 different pastry with mixed pickles and delicious roasted bread. For the second course you have the choice between 4 or 5 dishes. My favourite are definitely the frogs' leg's. The main course will be served with a wonderful potato bake. You have again the choice between beef ( Filet natural or with perigord truffle) and canard. I always take the beef perigord - it is the best filet I've ever eat!! Great!! Now the cheeseboard follows - only one thing to say: YUMMY!!! The appletarte with vanilla ice cream is just as great as all the other courses. But than follows the dessert : Mousse au chocolat, crème caramel, pears in red wine and plums in red wine!!! Delicious!!!! You will be addicted! You want to come back as soon as possible!!

After we shopped at Dior, bought a bag, and asked with shopping bag in hand, the host went to get the manager and we were told we could have a 4pm reservation for set price afternoon tea. If you call/email weeks or months in advance you'll probably have an easier time. Regardless, I knew it'd be like that and went mostly for the vibe/picture moments I could have. It's 55€/pp for 4 small desserts: a macaron, madeline, chocolate, and rose cream sweet, a drink of choice, and a dessert of choice (cream puffs or raspberry cake). All were great! It's definitely expensive for what it is but if you take into account the experience and ambiance, and you really like Dior, I think it's worth it.

I made reservations about a month and a half ahead of time because this place is quite popular. When I got there however they didn't have record of my reservation. You can only make reservations over the phone and you don't receive a confirmation. Luckily the host was super nice and she had a table for us anyway. While we waited to be seated, my friend checked out the inside of the store. They have some stairs leading up to it and a nice seating area up there to wait. She said the inside was gorgeous with different rooms that looked like a home. Many say that you are going for the ambiance and that the food is whatever, but I strongly disagree. I had a club sandwich and it was the best I've ever had. It came with a side of French fries and the fanciest little glass jars of condiments! They were tiny and personal so it was a super cute touch. Some of the food also comes with the Dior logo on it somehow, but not everything. My cappuccino had a Dior cinnamon topping and it looked so cool, I didn't want to drink it. I didn't get a chance to try drinks but everything else was delicious. Excellent service as well.

The restaurant has a humble exterior (largely blocked by gelato customers), but once you descend the stairs into the dining area you are in a sheek, romantic, cellar. Intimately small but comfortable. The walls are lined with stone and endless wine bottles. The starters were all quite good. We had the snails, squid, and cheese plait. As a bonus, my waitress recommended an excellent wine to pair with the squid. It was spot on. My group shared the beef and tartafelle (forgive my spelling). The beef was succulent, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I had no idea what to expect with the second dish but it was delicious and I would certainly order again. The prior night, I had the bakes camembert when eating solo. The dish is exactly as described. It's tasty, but I'd recommend it for a group since eating an entire block of melted cheese solo is challenging. Last but not least, the wait staff were wonderful! We really enjoyed chatting with our 2 waitresses, who went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed ourselves and our election of drinks. As a tourist, you really hope to stumble on a gem like this were the locals charm you and really guide your dining experience. If ever back in Nice, i'll certainly go again!

Also note there is no cell service or WiFi service in the restaurant. Nice ambiance in the restaurant and away from the hustle and bustle of Nice. We ordered the squid, Foie Gras and Filet Mignon. All 3 were very good though I am not a fan of the Fois Gras but it came with a nice salad and bread. The squid was seasoned well and cut thin and flash fried. The filet was sliced and cooked perfect The potatoes were great and also nice salad came with it. Service was ok. Prices Moderate.

This was our favorite meal of our trip to Nice!…read more Warning: Reservations are hard to come by we dropped by and only reservations available were for 9pm two nights later. We took it. The place is super relaxed. 5 maybe 6 tables which made the difficulty of reservations more understandable. Prix fix menu - 4 appetizers to choose from, 4 entrees and 4 desserts. We were there with somewhat of a limited diet, but the options were awesome. We got a cauliflower appetizer and an artichoke one. Both were excellent. We all had the cod for dinner also delicious - served in a bath of traditional fish soup and with potatoes. The dessert was also excellent - we got the goat cheese in olive oil and garlic, the cream cheese with blueberry compote, lemon cheesecake and cinnamon "tiramisu". Every bite was full of flavor and such cool takes on the food. Now the intangibles - we arrived for our 9pm reservation, restaurant closes at 9:30 and we probably didn't walk out until 11:15 and there was still another table of 8 people dining. The host/waiter, Sebastian, was awesome. So friendly and we at no point felt rushed. In fact the opposite. When our daughter was slow in finishing her meal he joked with her instead of hurrying us along. Once we finished our main dish, he casually brought us our dessert and because we didn't order his favorite (we didn't know) he brought us out an extra to enjoy. We felt a little bad so somewhat accelerated the dessert phase so we could square up and leave. Instead he was unhurried, he casually cleared our table and chatted with us for a bit. It took us another 15 minutes before we finally said could we get the bill. He brought it to us another 5-7 minutes later. We had a great experience and one of our best meals in France, if not the best.
