After eating parrilla every night for the last week, I needed a break! La Perla was a short walk from our hotel and sounded like a casual, easy place for dinner.
It's surprisingly large inside, kind of like a nice cafeteria. The atmosphere is family-friendly and there were many families there. At 9:30, we were the second table to arrive, but it stated filling up quickly around 10 pm. No reservations needed, you can just walk in.
The menu is a mix of casual Argentine fare, like milanesas, and Italian pasta dishes like gnocchi (ñoqui) and ravioli. There are some chicken and fish dishes, sandwiches, and salads. My gnocchi bolognese was simple but tasty, with a generous portion. The lomito completo was also simple but good. The aioli-type sauce that came with the bread was tasty and unusually spicy!
Prices are very reasonable - everything I saw was under USD$15 and most of it was under USD$10. The wine list is extensive and seemed to be mainly from Argentina, with plenty of bottles for under USD$10. Two entrees, a salad, a bottle of wine, and the minimal cubierto totaled USD$30.
The service was polite and friendly, but I didn't see any English menus and our server didn't speak English, so you'll need some basic restaurant Spanish here. A pleasant, affordable family restaurant for a no-fuss meal. read more
