Our hotel receptionist suggested Solar de Tejeda when I asked for nearby recommendations. Located in the historic district near the Jesuit block and cathedral, it seems to be open all day for breakfast, lunch, merienda, and dinner.
At 9:30 pm on a weeknight, we were able to walk right in and have our choice of tables. The decor is clean and simple - white walls, tile floors, and some framed photos of historic Cordoba sites.
Our server was friendly and patient with our bad Spanish (the menu is partially in English, too). We ordered the parrillada mixed grill for two (AR$251), which was an amazing deal. It comes with your choice of green salad or fries. It ended up being THREE plates of sizzling-hot meat, including sausage, blood sausage, asado, pork, ribs, and more. An excellent way to try lots of things if you don't know what you like, and plenty of meat for even the biggest appetite!
The atmosphere is low-key and casual, with John Meyer-type music playing in the background. It was mostly couples and singles, not so much big families or groups of young adults, so it was quiet and relaxed. A lovely place for dinner and an outstanding value for the parrillada! read more
