So, I'm indian. & in saying that i can say that the food i'd ordered from here is NOTHING like…read morewhat it's supposed to taste like. Are you kidding me?!!!
It's understandable that, being in Mexico, the flavors might differ due to lack/change in ingredients & to cater to the local palate, but seriously! I've lived in Monterrey long enough to know that's enough ingredients available here to make a fairly decent Indian curry. & the dishes i had from here were terrible!!!!
The order:
Mango lassi - the only item that tasted good. But then how can you go wrong with yogurt, mango pulp & sugar blended together.
Bhel puri - hahaha! What is supposed to be a light snack of crisp puffed rice mixed with onions/potato/tomato/Cilantro/sev & chutneys turned out to be an almost solid block of soggy puffed rice, lots of sev & oh, soooooo much chunky potato pieces...no chutney (& the ingredients are available here to make all of them so no excuse there!)....there might've been some chaat masala sprinkle in it......& a GENEROUS squeeze of lime. It was basically soggy rice, potatoes & lime. Not good!
The Nan - Readymade. Too much soda in those. Again, flour is available here to make good, traditional ones that taste much better!
Butter Chicken - hahaha! Nope! Not even close to the real thing! Where are the flavors?! What i had was just creamy tomato soup with chicken. & the chicken. Butter chicken must have juicy matinated chicken grilled & tossed in a creamy, buttery rich tomato gravy. The pieces here were so small & almost shredded to death! Terrible!
& the pièce de résistance....
Mutton Rogan Gosh!!! - where, oh, where do i begin!!! I honestly don't know still what i ate!!! Mutton Rogan Gosh. A very popular & delicious indian curry of goat/sheep meat in a rich, aromatic red gravy. I have never, ever seen a white version of it before.....not even in all my travels abroad! What i got here was a complete failure! It looked & tasted nothing like it's supposed to. The pieces of meat where pitiful & so small! & the gravy.....chilis, spices....where are they in it?!! A disaster!
And to top of the experience - the cost! Each curry was around $250......for fake curry!!! $700 for the meal!!!!
A complete rip-off!!!
Come on! Just because the people here don't know much about our cuisine doesn't mean you con them so badly! The Indian cuisine is so diverse, rich & tasty. Teach the staff the right recipes.....Google has plenty of options that are good. & ensure your customers are getting what they paid for. They deserve honesty!
I will not recommend this place to anyone here. What a con on our food it is!!!
