Although the restaurant was nearly empty, it took the waitress awhile to even acknowledge our presence, as it seems she was more interested in folding the napkins on the tables. Then, even after we were finally seated, she was in no hurry to bring us the menu and take our order. It was apparent that we were not welcomed in the establishment, and my suspicion was reaffirmed when a group of guests that followed us who seemed to be locals were greeted warmly and received a more expedient service. The discriminatory service continued throughout the meal as we were completely neglected while the waitress chatted up with white French patrons around us. The message was clear, she was not interested in serving tourists or people of color. Even more appalling was the food which turned out to be dismal and so NOT worth the bigotry we had to endure!

Specialized in Moroccan cuisine, the restaurant part is less crowded (at least on the Wednesday night when I was there). I had being dying for a good "tajine" for a few days and that's what win me to this place initially. The chicken "tajine" with "citron confit" (preserved lemon) was actually quite good... but 32 swiss francs (which is the same as US at this time) for a tajine is quite steep. Now Geneva is quite an expensive city but still... adding a cheese brick as appetizer, a glass of Moroccan wine and a mint tea did bring the bill for a single person to 63 swiss franc! Now the surprise, they do not accept any kind of card. I didn't swiss franc and they proposed to accept euro but only at a 1.1 exchange rate (a ripoff). Ended up having to go to an ATM to get swiss francs that I didn't need otherwise. The server was nice but she needed to split her time between the two parts of the place so it was quite slow. If you are in Geneva and really must need to eat a tajine then it is a good place... but you have to really want it!

I absolutely recommend their Tajines, they are absolutely delicious. They bring a small cup of olives to enjoy while you waited for your food. They offer traditional Algerian wines, and a popular soup. The atmosphere is extraordinary, with lively music playing the background. The restaurant is tucked away from the street, which allows for charming outdoor seating. The value is excellent, featuring large portions at a reasonable price. They are open later than most restaurants, even on weekdays. My only concern is that it's hard to contact the restaurant because one of the numbers on their website is out of order.
