We ended up in Le Marrakech as another restaurant we preferred was closed on Christmas Eve. We…read moreshould have known it was a bad sign when upon entering, no one bothered to greet us.
Although the restaurant was nearly empty, it took the waitress awhile to even acknowledge our presence, as it seems she was more interested in folding the napkins on the tables.
Then, even after we were finally seated, she was in no hurry to bring us the menu and take our order. It was apparent that we were not welcomed in the establishment, and my suspicion was reaffirmed when a group of guests that followed us who seemed to be locals were greeted warmly and received a more expedient service.
The discriminatory service continued throughout the meal as we were completely neglected while the waitress chatted up with white French patrons around us. The message was clear, she was not interested in serving tourists or people of color.
Even more appalling was the food which turned out to be dismal and so NOT worth the bigotry we had to endure!
