LOCATION It's a little difficult to find as it's tucked down an alley in Chinatown, and it's compounded by the fact that you enter what looks like a mini-mall and go down a set of lit-up stairs before reaching it. You'll find it, but it'll take some exploring. I would also be wary of staying out too late, as we were almost jumped several times upon leaving. ***Don't walk on the sidewalks, walk in the middle of the street!!!*** KARAOKE The sound system isn't as good as other karaoke bars I've been to, but it does what you would want it to. They use a Chinese karaoke system, so knowing how to read Mandarin would be helpful when navigating the portal. Since it doesn't have a wide selection of English songs, they Chromecast YouTube to the TV, and you can karaoke from there. Not the most professional, but it does the trick. One thing about the portal system too is that you can't karaoke without the actual artist singing as well, so that was a MAJOR downside for our experience. We asked the owner about it when she came in to check on us, but she said that some songs had the artist singing along and others didn't. You just had to be lucky when choosing the song. We got it to work, though, once by pressing random buttons, but were never able to replicate it afterward. DRINKS If you're looking for good drinks, this is not the place. We shared a Sprite Vodka, and it was worth the price considering it was mostly vodka, but the execution of what we ordered was off. SERVICE The barista/cashier up front was very accommodating in explaining to us how the system worked and resolved any issues should we have any (upping the volume, how to connect YouTube from our phones to the TV, etc. Again, the downside of our experience was that they didn't know how to navigate the system so the artist wasn't singing along with us (which defeats the purpose of karaoke). Unlike other karaoke spots I've been to, the place here was very flexible in regards to timing, and we were able to sing a little longer than our allotted time without penalty. Overall, if you're really itching to sing, this place isn't bad, but other places might be more worth your fancy.

They also name their private rooms as precious stones (we were in the Topaz room). Their sound system (Bose) is fine, yet the mics were not working that well. But since the room is small and private, you can simply sing out loud and there won't be much of a difference. We had sangria and tequila shots - service was fairly fast and the drinks were fine. It's a warm afternoon, but not overly so. Our first anniversary, and we're having a corker of a time, just being together in a foreign city, enjoying what life has to offer. Then I spot...IT...over a garden fence, and I stop dead in my tracks. "The HELL is that?" Two enormous...people...who appear to be crafted from papier-maiche, gazing lovingly at one another. "Oh, I've GOT to see what this is all about." My wife shrugs and follows, knowing as she does that once I have some damn fool errand in my head, it's madness to try to dissuade me. I approach to get a better look, and see that these two towering statues, like the Colossus of Rhodes, are no mere artist's renderings, but rather guardians which bear witness to a marvelous land: Saint-Sulpice. Saint-Sulpice: a vast, bacchanalian beer garden tucked inauspiciously into a side street, which, for someone from a puritanical city where such a thing would be looked on with horror and disgust by the city fathers, is a kind of promised land. We take a table, and order a few frosty brews, relax, and play a game or two of rummy. The servers are as relaxed as we are, but attentive, and fill our glasses when we ask, and vanish into the afternoon when they are not needed. Perhaps the highlight for me was the Jersey-Shore-esque bachelorette party which traipsed through, or perhaps it was just the relaxation of a huge outdoor patio surrounded by beautiful trees through which the sun shone while we enjoyed a lazy afternoon of gin rummy and good Canadian beer. Had it been a very hot day, however, the archway which constantly emitted a superfine mist of cool water, through which a heated patron could find relief, surely that would have been the oasis I treasured the most. Just knowing that some thoughtful publican had thought to install such a feature for his guests made me smile. I love you Montreal, and Saint-Sulpice is one of the reasons why.

I drove my rental car out of the airport in search of a place to find WIFI so I could WHATSAPP my daughter. I landed at Le Normandie only to be greeted by a handsome bartender who was my savior. He took my phone- hooked me up- hand wrote specific directions to my destination- while i contacted my daughter to let her know where I was. I didn't have time to dine but I did manage to gulp a glass of wine- and I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone who is in the area. Thank you for all your help!!!
