Nevertheless, the view angles for the sports could be different than on television, but the experience would be different too. For years...no... decades I have enjoyed watching the events and seeing how people from all places treat each other. 90% of the time it is a great experience. The other ten percent I can not account for as I am not there to experience The Real McCoy. The Vancouver in 2010 is the closest I have been to during this wonderful time. My dad and stepmom went there and I received an actual peice of merchandise from Vancouver Olympics Games. I have since misplaced the hat, but it is somewhere in my house...I think. I remember watching the games with my roommate watch Luge and double Luge on tv, but I always about racing Luge on your stomach. Looking things up on the net was almost nonexistent at the time. Little did I know this sport called Skeleton was invented in the 19th century. It actually had been put into the Olympics in 1928 and 1948 at the St Moritz Games. After a 52 year hiatus it came back to the Olympics in 2002 Salt Lake City and has been with Olympics ever since. I learned this tidbit of information today and had to add this into my review. I remember my roommate saying this wouldn't be possible because it would be to dangerous. Well nothing could be farther than the truth. Dangerous or not, adrenaline junkies and very brave men and woman ate going to do this sport even if they could die or experiences something much worse than death. I will be watching Skeleton later on today, because I find it fascinating and exciting to see something I thought was pure imagination actually be done in live and living color. Women's Downhill Slalom Race 2 is what I watched last night. Wow, I thought I flew down the hills fast during my high school days. Nothing compares speeds and risks I saw these women take to be number one. You don't make it to the Olympics to go soft and easy. I did notice the ladies had an arm guards in this Olympics that I noticed. I don't remember seeing this in the past Olympics. Hitting the flags at the speeds I say gotta hurt like a... well, you get the point. I saw a woman catch her hand on one of those flag poles and it did not end well for her. Nina O'brien of the US Olympic Team suffered leg fractures from a fall near the end of her run. I literally saw her do the splits as she tumbled down the hill. At the speed I saw Nina O'brien going I thought she was going to make first place. One miscalculation put her face first into the ground and then some. The look of shock on my face as I watched the crash/fall were the same shocked looks on the other competitors faces. Many of these races have experienced a fall and have a better understanding than me at the speeds they were going. Nevertheless, Speed Skating, Luge Snowboarding are some of my favorite sports to watch in the Olympics. The Games having been going on for to long and I am looking forwards to seeing more from these athletes. The games have begun, it's time for more fun. Oh, I forgot to mention the women's Cross Country Skiing was fun to watch. I normally don't watch this sport, but did so with my wife. It gave me a greater respect for the sport. I might just watch Curling too...this might be a real challenge for me.
