Outstanding service! I came in to order some food from the Taqueria not really understanding how it needed to work. Normally you pay at the register and then give the ticket to the Taqueria but because I wanted to order chicken breast that needed to be weighed it was going to be backwards. I also don't speak Spanish well enough to navigate all of that. This lovely woman, Selena, immediately figured out that I needed help and came over and helped me. She let me sample some different meats and helped me get what I wanted. She even checked on me halfway through my meal and helped me to get my chicken heated up on the grill since they don't keep it super hot in the display (for obvious reasons). The woman who grilled it up brought out to my table and asked if I needed anything else. This is better service than I get in most full-service restaurants these days. The food is also delicious. I highly recommend the fajita meat. I will definitely be back. read more

Decent food decent meat but they will make you feel uncomfortable/unwelcome if you don't speak Spanish

Another outpost of a venerable Houston institution since 1986; this review is for the ready to eat/deli counter located to the left upon entering this location. If you want a delicious basic filling meal then order the regular meat plate (2 meats; tortillas; rice and refried beans) for $7.99 + tax. The breakfast plate is essentially the same but with two servings of eggs (any style) for $5.99. The food is simple and consistent if a bit on the greasy side. The employees don't all speak English well but the food is absolutely worth trying because it is quick, tasty and inexpensive! read more

Well, I was very disappointed. I went in to get something to eat. I'm english, not Spanish and nobody could help me. I guess I won't be going back there. That was the 1 on 1960. Couldn't get no lunch. Don't speak spanish read more

The kitchen staff needs more hospitality, they rudely aks you for what u want, ask u if it's for here or to go twice, then they send you to pay to get their ticket , when you come back to get your tacos they dissappear in the back , lost my appetite at this point , when she , same lady got my ticket , again for here or to go ?? I am not a rude person but this can make me a really rude person last but not least Hayyyy Le va this were the words when I got my tacos . Definitely not for a business idc if it's a taqueria or a finedining place. Please owner take action and do something to improve this service . You order food they can print a receipt and then you leave happy NOT hard . Sad that my own people acts that way. LA MICHOACANA can do better that read more

To grandmother's house we go! Anytime I visit my sweet abuelita, I'm sure to take pounds and pounds of barbacoa for the familia. (There are lots of people that swing by on a Saturday morning, so it's best to be prepared). I think the Taco Tierra Caliente food truck has the best barbacoa in town, but since they don't sell it by the pound, it's a better deal to get it from La Michoacana. They also have an ice chest with freshly warmed tortillas so you can grab a stack on the go. The Braeswood location is big, clean, offers lots of parking, and you can find more than just barbacoa. There's an in-house eatery where you can order food and dine ...breakfast tacos, rice, beans, carne asada ... There's beer, groceries, delicious Mexican candies, clothing - yes, clothing - and toys. If you're a lime or avocado fanatatic, you get a far better deal at La Michoacana than HEB, Whole Foods or any other mainstream grocer. Trust me. read more

$3.01 for 4 corn tortilla tacos, with tax. Your choices are ... fajitas style steak, chicarrons, or chicken. That's it. Ignore what the menu says. It's a special from 4pm to 7 (?) pm, 2 corn tortilla tacos for like $1.49. See picture. YOU NEED TO ORDER THIS as a "special" when you check out or else it will be upcharged. You order with the check out ladies for the regular grocery. You then take the receipt to the lady behind the counter. The lady behind the counter is worse than a stuck up Parisian (you know the kind, the one who speaks fluent English but demands you speak proper French to them, and then makes fun of you in perfect English of how pathetic your French is). She REFUSES to accept my order of "tres tacos con maiz tortillas y fajitas, porfavor" and asks one of the check out ladies to help me. I am sorry, but I am still a bit miffed. I can speak the Spanish, albiet poorly, but enough to communicate through a series of hand signals and horribly pronounced Spanish words -- but I swear it's not that bad!!! Anyway, the lady behind the meat counter does not appreciate my adventurousness, and makes me feel pretty ridiculous. She serves me last. And she takes FOREVER to make some tacos just because she's busy gossiping. Don't think I don't know what you are saying! My spoken Spanish is horrific, but I understand the language!!! I haven't seen tacos so cheap since Detroit's taco truck scene. A special condiment bar including: 4 salsas, including tomatillo, guacamole salsa, habernero, and a traditional roasted tomato. Pico, cilantro, limes, onions. That said, the taco lady has me. She serves delicious tacos, on her own time, after humiliating me. But holy cluck, they are tasty. The check out ladies are very helpful and much sweeter and less surly. Their salsas are sold separately in the front near the cashier. They are AMAZING. The rojo, the orange-ish one and the guacamole salsa are just... wow. To die for. I want to eat them all, constantly. They have some tortilla chips in the back and holy mole, they are GOOD! Never heard of the brand, but gah! Better than most restaurant chips! They have to-go tamales sitting next to the register. Skip them. They are not noteworthy. Dry. Not amazing. Hard as rocks. Summary: tacos are amazing, but taco lady is incredibly surly, the salsa are amazing, try them all, skip the tamales. I'll be back. To be humiliated for my bad Spanish. I'm torn by my ego between a 3 and a 4 (for the deliciousness). read more

Nice folks. Foods hit or miss. Love the Agua Frescas here. Groceries are a little lacking but it gets the job done.

I am a huge fan of this Michoacana. This is one of the larger locations in town, with a lot of options available. They have an expansive meat section, decent seafood options, traditional Mexican groceries, reasonably priced produce, and a large number of items that you can't really find in this area except for at Fiesta. The taqueria section is easily the highlight of this place. My girlfriend and I swing by at least twice a month for our taco fix. I prefer the pastor, while she goes for barbacoa, but we always end up stealing from each other. The food is cheap, though, and there's ample seating right there for you to eat without going anywhere. There are a few cleanliness issues with the staff in the taqueria, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone reports them for it sooner or later. They also don't restock much in the evening, so unless you come by for lunch, you are bound to have a limited selection on what to choose from. read more

Worst food ever. Customer service at restaurant was poor.. they did not have face mask on while preparing food nor were they attentive to the order had to repeat 6 times in both languages (English and Spanish). Beans taste like from a can. Rice was cold and hard, pork had so much bone that there seemed to have no meat. I asked her while she was serving to put meat and she pretty much added bone. Never visiting this spot again. Waisted my money read more

So let's focus on what I like. I like the food and how it's cheap. I've always found it tasty. They have a good selection of meats for tamales and menudo. The sweet bread section isn't too bad, but I've had better. What's icky about the place is that it's sometimes not as clean as I would like. I mean in terms of the tables and what not. I haven't seen them do anything unsanitary in the kitchen area, but dirty tables are still enough to make you say eww. They also do that homey shared paper towels thing, but sometimes its just gross as sticky/dirty hands touch them. As for the grocery section? This place isn't large enough to be called a grocery store, but it's a good quick mart sort of location and the produce they have can be at a great price and considering that the former Seller's Brothers is gone and the closest HEB isn't that close. I like the food enough to come back and am willing to give them slack as the service is good, but they really ought to do something about the tables and dirty napkins. read more

You can get a good deal in different items! For avocados it's actually perfect. The taqueria is fine, specially if you come early, later on the day I wouldn't recommend, since they don't restock very often. One major down if that if you buy groserías, you have to pick your own stuff, meaning you are not allowed to used your shopping card to your car. If you are buying several thing makes sure you are not alone, you will need extra help of multiple trip to your car carrying everything in your hands. read more

Gem of a store. Gems of staff too. You won't find much of this in Kroger, that's for sure. Prices right, too!

A convenient source for pre-marinated Mexican meats, especially fajita, plus giant sheets of chicaronnes. Also the usual spread of other Mexican ingredients you might need: masa harine, mole paste, various chilis. Also, there's an in-store taqueria with tasty looking stuff and salsas lined up on the counter for self-saucing. It's not a 5 star because the produce was not what I was expecting. However, limes are 20/$1 sometimes, and avocados were $.39. read more

I tried to like this place, I really did. I gave it at least four different tries, all with the same results. I stopped here to grab some tacos for work Thursday evening. This place is literally .1 miles from where I live. I was hoping to dash right in and then right back out in less than 10 minutes. I got in at 3pm, paid for my order at the register and waited. And waited. And waited. No one behind the food counter asked me if I needed any help. Like yes, I'm just standing there looking at the food while you guys ignore me! Finally, another customer gets to looking at the food and the lady behind the counter asks her if she needed any help. Both ladies behind counter ignored me and helped the other customer first. I was pretty livid at this time. I am not a rude person by any means, so I just told the lady, hey I need some help too. At this time, another would-be customer walks in and waits about 5 minutes, with no one acknowledging him as well. He proceeds to leave. I would have left too, had I not paid for my food already. In all, I waited 30 freakin' minutes for six tacos. Their meats are all pre-made, so it should have been a lot quicker. I will NEVER step foot into this establishment again and I have also told all of my co-workers about this place as well. The food isn't even great for them to act the way they did towards me. If yelp had a zero star, that's what this place would deserve. I now see why their parking lot is always empty. Management: get better employees who speak English or are bilingual. This is America. read more

Good meats, but if you are a white person the butchers will always try to give you more than you ask for. I just asked for 1 steak while holding 1 finger up and the guy slipped 3 steaks in the bag behind the counter. read more

Hello, I will rate the times I have visited this Michoacana meat market for eatting purposes. Not the best location. Not great cooking, very greasy, very, very, very slow!!! They are shisty with the food and not to mention the attempt to prepare pupusas, very disappointed. If you want the best customer service, fast paced, great tasting fresh food, pronto! Visit the Michoacana on 11210 S. Post Oak. Very clean, awesome customers service and they are not shy giving you generous portions. read more

Worst tacos I've ever had, waisted $18 !!! The lines were all over the place, nobody knew where to order. So disorganized! I ordered three chicken tacos and two steak. They got my order wrong & the food was gross. read more

I used to stop here with my crew and omg. The people taking care of you in the morning look mad all the time and are very rude. The meats don't have flavor.
